London and Middlesex / Arthur Rose
« on: Wednesday 15 March 17 04:17 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested to hear from anyone who may be researching the Rose Family.  Arthur Rose was my great-grandfather.   I believe he was a Sugar Refiner.   His wife was Louisa Clifford Rose (nee Barwick).  Their son (my grandfather) Mark Samuel Rose was born in London on 19 December 1874.  The address given on his birth certificate was 13 Somerford Street, Bethnal Green.  Mark Samuel Rose emigrated to Australia with his wife Mary Lily Ann Rose (nee Williams) and my father William Edward Rose b. London on 1901.   The family disembarked at Townsville, Queensland, Australia on 15 July 1903.

Surrey / John Russell 1721-1793
« on: Friday 08 January 16 02:40 GMT (UK)  »
In the Will of John Russell, Blacksmith, of Farnham in the County of Surrey, he mentions a piece or parcel of hopground called the Doves that I believe is near the village of Crondall. He left this piece or parcel of land for the use of his granddaughter Patty Russell.   I would like to hear from anyone who may be researching this family and/or anyone who has any knowledge of the area mentioned above.

James RUSSELL was an ironmonger in Farnham Surrey.
He was born ca 1755.
On 6 September 1785 he married Jane Marchant.  They had a son, John Russell (1786-1834).

About 1794/5 he married for a second time.   His spouse was Mary (maiden name not known).
They had three children - Martha baptised 2 October 1795;  James baptised 2 June 1797;  and Richard baptised 20 May 1801 - all born in Farnham.

If anyone is researching this family and has any information concerning the parentage of James the ironmonger, I would appreciate hearing from you.   His father's name may have been John Russell.

I am DESPERATELY trying to find out the births and marriage details of James and Mary Ann Russell.
James Russell appears in the 1831 Heads of Households Census living at King Street, Hammersmith.   He was described as a tallow chandler or grocer and the address given was Broadway.
In the 1841 UK Census (Broadway, Hammersmith, Middlesex) James and Mary were listed as not born in the county.
The Burial Register of St Paul, Hammersmith lists Mary Ann Russell, aged 51 years, 13 November 1842 and James Russell, aged 46, 7 October 1843.   (Ref: DD/746/61 pages 6 and 22).
Their children - baptised at St Paul, Hammersmith were:
James - 6 April 1823
John Richard - 3 July 1825
William Frederick - 3 April 1828
Thomas Henry - 25 December 1830
Richard - 29 December.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone who may be researching the Russell family or who have any suggestions to offer.
With thanks

Norfolk / Birthplace of James RUSSELL ca 1797
« on: Wednesday 10 March 10 06:40 GMT (UK)  »
James Russell married Mary Ann COLLINS on 5 March 1821 at Lakenham, Norfolk.   Mary was born there on 15 July 1792 - parents William Collins and Elizabeth Sayer.   I'm having great difficulty finding the birthplace of James Russell.   He and Mary Ann were listed in the 1841 UK Census at Broadway, Hammersmith, Middlesex as 'not born in the county'.   Any help would be gratefully appreciated.   They both died before the 1851 Census was taken - ie Mary Ann in 1842 and James in 1843
