Imprisoned 1898 NSW
Arrival date 1894
Birth date 1871 Ireland
Prison name Goulburn
Ship name Oriezaba

Can anyone tell me if these are one and the same person and what crime and sentence he might have received, please?
Did the Oriezaba call at NZ on the way to NSW?

I cannot locate Support at the foot of the Home Page. Perhaps someone on forum can help me, please?
On reactivating research on a member of my family (Michael Hanlon) yesterday I discover in my messages one I had missed before - concerning Sgt Hawkes who belongs to a friend's family Tree. I did extensive research on the Hawkes branch of his family and finally closed off and printed my results in a book 2013. This message was from Matson Hawkes great great grand daughter, in NZ dated 2015. She requested more information..... which of course she did not receive.
That was 7 years ago and I note she only listed one message and I dare say the quick reply I have sent off might no be received. Maybe she has given up?
Is there any way I can make contact with her other than through messaging on the Forum?
It is such a pity as I do have a wealth of information for her. (username STANGERM)

United States of America / Michael Hanlon NZ to US?

Michael Hanlon ( alternative name O'Hanlon) born 1871. Emigrated from Kilkenny in Ireland to New Zealand on the 'Howrah" in 1875. I have been trying to discover what happened to Michael for a while now. Among a family members papers (his sister Bridget) was found a letter from a JM Hanlon, San Francisco in 1903. A Michael Hanlon (born Ireland 1871) immigrated to SF on the SS Mariposa (via Sydney) in 1900. Further, a Michael J Hanlon was naturalized in SF in 1904. He lost touch with his NZ family.
After that he disappeared. There have been one or two hopeful records but these have had to be eliminated.
The Rootschat Community, in the past, have been a huge help to me in my family research and that of others and I am wondering, after so many years have passed, there might be additional records in the States which might throw so light as to what eventually happened to him?

The past week I have had some great help on a few brick wallers........... this outstanding one is a very stubborn one which I have not be able to solve for several years ... can anyone help, please?

The Glispins farmed in Riverdale Township, Minnesota. In the 1880 Fed Census there is an unmarried son called Michael J Glispin (head). In the household there is his mother Anna and a boy named Joseph McClure from Tennessee aged 10 years. The Census reads he is the adopted son, I imagine, of Michael J Glispin.
In 1883 Michael J was taken back to his roots in Massachusetts to die, by his mother. Joseph McClure went to live with Michael's sister Jennie (Jane) Amell in the nearby farming township of Feildon. He would have been 15 years, as found in the 1885 State Census.
From this point Joseph McClure (- Glispin) seems to disappear.
The Amells moved to Spokane in 1888 and Joseph appears not to have gone with them

This is a difficult request but I wonder if anyone can trace the future life of Joseph for me?

As he came from Tennessee to the Glispins farm I have not been able to find a link between his family (McClures) and the Glispins.

I have drawn a blank regarding the background, and indeed future life, of a Glispin person who appears on the 1900 Fed Census for Spokane, WA.
The entry records a E F Glispin (no full first names) dob July 1868. Father born in England and mother in Illinois. (I guess the state of birth might be Iliinois). The person's occupation is that of a journalist. Perhaps, as a journalist E F was covering a story?
Does anyone have any expertise that is more far reaching than mine, please?

Hello,

Can anyone assist with information about who lived in either 223 16th Street, Manhattan or 223 11th Street, Manhattan, NYC. In 1849.
A Michael Gillespie (or variant surname) died tragically and the NYC Municipal Death notice and newspaper inquest report give two different addresses. I am trying to determine if Michael lived with family at one of these addresses.

Michael Glespen arrived in NY abt 1845. He was born in Ireland 1824.
The 1850 mortality records for NY register him as 'killed' in August of that year....murdered?
I wonder if anyone has any expertise which might throw some light on the circumstanes of his death, please?

Hello again ...................... can you help?

I have an ancestor John Gleespen born in Kilkenny, Ireland abt 1799 died 1873.

He lived in Somerset County, New Jersey when his will was being contested in 1873-74. A lengthy process. He had a daughter named Ellen Aird who died just before her father. The court petition records indicate he had three children, including Ellen. I have not found any birth or marriage records for his offspring or wife.
