Somerset / Yeovil Baptisms 1740 - 1800
« on: Friday 18 October 13 09:08 BST (UK)  »
I've been hunting high and low for any online Yeovil Baptisms for the second half of the 18thC to no avail. I've also looked at possibly buying a CD but again no joy. This is my first foray into Somerset, can anyone give me any advice on where to look, please.

Thanks

Sue

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Newmarket, St Mary, baptism - DOW
« on: Saturday 16 March 13 22:07 GMT (UK)  »
There are two baptisms showing on Family Search for Edward DOW, 27 Oct 1767, St Mary Newmarket but with different mothers (no father named on either) I wonder if anyone has access to an original image who would be able to check whether there were indeed two Edwards or help me work out which record is wrong!

Many thanks

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Horsley Marriages - C18th Completed
« on: Friday 10 August 12 12:03 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to Horsley marriages circa 1730, please?

I'm looking for extra detail on two marriages I've found on Family Search:

Hannah Prout to Thomas Brunkett, 13 Sept 1730
and
Hannah Prout to William Dowell, 10 May 1736

I'm wondering if they are mother and daughter so need to know status at marriage ie spinster or widow. Also witnesses if any are given would be icing on the cake!!!

Many Thanks in advance

Sue

Surrey / Elizabeth Bennett c1791, Dorking?
« on: Tuesday 20 September 11 10:08 BST (UK)  »
Elizabeth Bennett m Justinian Moss 1823 @ St Mary Newington.
Their children were all baptised in Mitcham except one who was born in Tooting Graveney.
She was living in Mitcham in all the following censuses.
1841 - she was "born in County"
1851 - birth place N.K (not known, I assume)
1861 - birthplace Dorking, Surrey

1864 - died, buried in Mitcham.

Does anyone have access to Dorking PRs that could check for a baptism for me on the off chance that she was actually born there?

Many thanks

Warwickshire / Mary Ann Trimmer c1792, Birmingham
« on: Friday 16 September 11 10:16 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help someone with a tree firmly rooted in London find a Birmingham branch, please?  ;D

Mary Ann Trimmer married Henry Moore 21 Apr 1810, St James Clerkenwell, London.

In the 1851 census she states that she was born in Birmingham abt 1792. She died in 1854 and the burial record give the same year.

However I can't find a birth for her. I've tried Family Search, Free Reg etc and trawled through all the resources suggested here. Does anyone more experienced with Birmingham resources have any idea where else I can look please.

Thanks

Sue

Leicestershire / Humphrey Moss -18thC.
« on: Sunday 05 September 10 13:38 BST (UK)  »
There are three baptisms on Family Search giving Humphrey Moss as the father:
Mary Moss 21 May 1737 All Saints LEICESTER, Humphrey and Mary
Mary Moss 21 May 1737 All Saints LOUGHBOROUGH, Humphrey and Mary
Justinian Moss 4 Feb 1743, St Leicester, Humphrey (no mother named)

I have a few questions  :-[
Was Mary baptised at Leicester, Loughborough or both on the same day??
Are they the same Humphrey?
And can anyone find any other Leicestershire records for Humphrey?

My interest comes from Justinian. I have a Justinian Moss who is buried in Mitcham Surrey, 1829 born abt 1744 and the Leicestershire one is the closest date wise. But there are a few Justinian Moss/Morse (name written as both in records) entries in Gloucestershire so I am wondering if Humphrey came to Leicestershire via Gloucestershire....
Any ideas, help or input welcome!
Thanks
Sue
