Lanarkshire / Annie Maxwell Mclachlan
« on: Tuesday 10 May 11 23:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm looking for info on Annie Maxwell Mclachlan who was born in 1891 in Glasgow and
her parents were John McLachlan and Marion Bauchop.
Annie married Robert Scott in 1913 in Glasgow but i'm looking for any info on them after their
marriage.

Annie & Robert possibly emigrated to the USA but i have been unable to find them on any passenger lists etc.
Annies husband Robert was born in Spain in 1879 but i don't think they went back to live there as his father died when he was young and his mother brought the family back to live in Greenock in the 1880's.
With Robert having quite an unusual birthplace in those days i thought i would be able to find info on them but have so far been unable to do so

I know you guys out there love to solve mysteries and i'm sure you will come up trumps for me again
in my quest for elusive ancestors.

Thanks in anticipation

I have an elderly relative who says she remembers scandal in her grandfathers family that maybe Annie was a convict transported from Ireland?
On her marriage cert. she says she was a housemaid but i'm unable to find any records of her on passenger lists etc.

Aberdeenshire Lookup Requests / David Thomson Whatever happened to him???
« on: Sunday 13 February 11 20:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,
Posted this a while ago without any luck, but maybe with a reminder someone will find some info on him for me.
Born 14 sept 1879 in St.Nicholas, Aberdeen.
Mother Charlotte Wilson, father David Thomson.
Parents were not married but Charlotte called herself Mrs.Thomson.
Last known census was 1881 in Aberdeen St.Nicholas.
His father died in 1883 and David junior is not listed on the 1891 census
with his mother.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Been searching for a couple of years now
trying to find out what happened to this child.

Cheers,

Canada Lookup Request / Martha Stevenson-look up request
« on: Saturday 27 November 10 20:46 GMT (UK)  »
HELP!!!

I've asked for help from all you Canadian experts out there before,
but hopefully i'm looking in the correct place this time.

Looking for Martha Stevenson(maiden name Thomson) born 1859, Edinburgh,Scotland.
She emigrated to Canada in 1913, with her daughter, also called Martha.
They lived in Ft.William, Ontario and her daughter Martha married Richard Vannorman.
If i have the correct person, Martha senior went back to Edinburgh in 1924, but i'm unable to find any record of her after this date.
She did go back to her home in Canada, but that is all i know.

I followed up all leads previously suggested but nothing matched.
If any of you experts can dig a little deeper and help solve a great big puzzle for me i would be extremely grateful as i've hit a great big brick wall.

Cheers,
Marie

Aberdeenshire Completed Lookups / David Thomson
« on: Monday 08 November 10 21:54 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for David Thomson born in Aberdeen on 14th.September 1879.
Mother was Charlotte Wilson, father David Thomson.

Davids parents 'eloped' from Edinburgh where David Thomson senior had a
family he left behind and for whatever reason didn't divorce.
Charlotte was a single lady and housekeeper for her father before
she went to live in Park Lane Aberdeen.
I have a census record of David aged 2 in 1881, but nothing
after this.

David senior died in St. Nicholas parish in 1883 and Charlotte lived at the same address with another son James Wilson born 1881 but David Thomson was not the father.
Charlotte died in 1922 but cannot find any other record of her son David Thomson.
I've checked all the death records of children called David Thomson between 1881 & 1891 without any luck.
I wondered if it was possible he was adopted by another family member or if he would have been put into a workhouse if his mother couldn't cope with two small children?

Does anyone know of any poorhouse/workhouse records after 1881 i could look at.

Cheers
Marie

Canada / Martha Stevenson
« on: Monday 08 November 10 13:15 GMT (UK)  »
Sorry MOD, posted this elsewhere in the wrong place

Help needed!

Looking for Martha Stevenson who emigrated from Leith, Edinburgh to Canada
in 1913 and lived in Fort William, Ontario.
She arrived with her daughter also called Martha.
She was born in 1859 but seems to have lied about her age
as a later document has her as being born about 1875.
She came back to Scotland for a visit in 1924 and definitely
went back to Canada, but after that there is no trace of her.
Her maiden name was Thomson.

Her daughter (Martha Thomson Stevenson)married Richard Frank Vannorman and died in BC in 1965

Any help of her whereabouts or death after 1924 would be greatly appreciated.
