I have a death certificate where the occupation of the next of kin is shown as 'Textile Tatler'. I can't find anything on what this occupation entails. Any ideas?

I am researching the Soldiers and Sailors Family Association(SSFA) during WW1. When war broke out and there was the mass enlisting in the Army the government paid Separation Allowance to wives, children or dependent adults of the men who joined. This included, for the first time, wives who were 'not on strength'. The government of the day could not cope with such a massive task and do the 'job' fell to the volunteers of the SSFA, in the main these were ladies who saw it as their 'duty' to help. If anyone has experience in their family of SSFA at the time either as a volunteer or as someone who received help I'd be grateful for their story.

Renfrewshire / Ann & Janet Wilson, sisters of Greenock

Ann Wilson b 14 Jul 1861 & her sister Janet b 22 Mary 1867 both appear on the 1881 census living with their father, their mother died in 1877. I can find no trace of either on the 1891 census, I've also check Yorkshire as an aunt moved there with her husband in the 1840s, also checked SP for marriages & deaths, without success. Their father, John died in January 1888 at the address of another daughter, although the Post Office Directory of 1887-88 shows him as a farmer at Cornhaddock on the farm he was born.
Ann & Janet seem to disappear around the time of the death of their father & I've checked outgoing ships from Greenock as well.
Anyone any ideas I can follow up?

Renfrewshire / A Murdoch, Blue, Brockie conundrum in Greenock

Grace Murdoch married Archibald Blue, a carpenter, in Port Glasgow on 7 Feb 1834.
In the 1841 census she has moved to Inverkip Street, Greenock with her husdand, two sons and sister in law.
Her daughter Marion was born in 1845 and died December 1921, her death certificate shows her mother as Grace Brockie, formerly Blue, MS Murdock and her father Archibald Blue.
The 1851 census, shows Grace living as a lodger with Robert Brockie and together with his 10 year old daughter Allison and 6 year old daughter Marion. There is also a Archibald Blue visiting.
I'm minded to think, Marion is my Marion Blue & Archibald is her brother.
When Marion married in 1869 her father, Archibald is shown as deceased, her mother as Brockie and again formerly Blue, MS Murdoch.
The 1841 & 51 census information is from ancestry, I cannot trace the family on Scotlandspeople, likewise on Scotlandspeople I cannot trace the death of Archibald Blue, the marriage of Grace to Mr Brockie or the birth of Marion.
Anyone any ideas of what happened in this little family conundrum?

Renfrewshire / David Wilson Greenock c1786 -1849

In the Fowlers Commercial Directory of 1836-37 David is shown as a farmer & architect living at Cornhaddock. I know the farmer & Cornhaddock are correct from other research. The architect is new though. Then in subsequent Hutcheson Greenock Directories & Post Office Directories he is shown as a farmer and Road Contractor until his death in 1849 when his widow is shown as running the farm until her death.
I cannot find any other references to his businesses either as an architect or road contractor. Does anyone have any ideas where I could search?
I know that on his death he was quite well off for the time & although he died intestate he left cash in four bank accounts and livestock at the farm, the farm appears to have been rented though.

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Bedale War Memorial- Information Received

Does anyone know if the names on the Memorial in St Gregory's church have been researched? When looking at the names on the CWGC website some have no details of family so I am unsure if two of the Caygill's on there are mine.
