Derbyshire / The Genealogist- Tithe records
« on: Monday 17 April 23 16:03 BST (UK)  »

I'm researching the BOALER/BOWLER family who lived in Sycamore House in Barlborough. I've seen that there are tithe records for George and Robert Boaler on The Genealogist website and I'd be grateful if someone could do a couple of look ups for me.

I'm interested in seeing where the land was that they owned and any other details.

Thanks in anticipation

Derbyshire / Boalers of Barlborough
« on: Saturday 08 April 23 18:15 BST (UK)  »
Just wondered if anyone is researching this family. The family lived in Sycamore House Barlborough which has 2 listed monuments in the garden. I've found lots of information about the family but can't find who lived in the house after 1861. The occupant then was
Robert Boaler 63 Farmer 12 acres of land born Welbeck
Jane       "      44                                   born Waterthorpe
Jane Hunt Boaler 8                                born Barlborough

I'm researching the history of the house (as a surprise gift) and thought I would include inhabitants.
The house was owned by the Boaler family until it's sale in 1907.
Many thanks

Lincolnshire / Ernest Waddington EXTON
« on: Thursday 04 August 22 16:22 BST (UK)  »
Ernest was born in Brigg in 1895. On GRO there is no mother's maiden name but when he marries in Doncaster in 1919 he gives his father's name as George Waddington Exton.

Ernest was deaf and dumb and was in a school in Doncaster in 1911 and I think I have found him in 1901 in Glanford Brigg boarding with Jane Williams 57.

Can anyone find George Waddington Exton, or do you think Ernest just made up a name to insert on the wedding certificate?

Somerset / The TINKLIN family
« on: Wednesday 20 July 22 09:51 BST (UK)  »
I've traced this family back to Samuel b 1814 Clevedon according to 1851/1861 censuses living in Kenn with wife Eliza and son Edward. I'm trying to establish who his parents were and further back if possible.

As I'm from Yorkshire I'm not familiar with the region so it's hard to establish possible links.

I'd be grateful for any information

many thanks

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Barrett family from Bentley
« on: Friday 15 July 22 18:18 BST (UK)  »
In 1841 John (40) is married to Mary living in Bentley with children Harriett, Charles, George, Sarah and William.

I am struggling to find a marriage between John and Mary as I am not from Hampshire therefore do not know the districts etc. I have found all the baptisms for the children which were in Bentley.

Just hoping someone might point me in the right direction.

Many thanks

Leicestershire / JONES family from Loughborough
« on: Tuesday 05 July 22 17:52 BST (UK)  »
I've traced William Jones B 1829 back to the 1851 census with wife Harriet (Oldham) living at Wood Gate, Loughborough.

I "think" I might have found him in 1841 with parents James/Mary and sister Ann but cannot find a baptism for him so am not sure.

Would anyone be able to confirm this for me please? I've seen a couple of trees on Ancestry but don't subscribe so I can't take a look.

Any help much appreciated

Fife / Scottish burials
« on: Monday 20 September 21 17:15 BST (UK)  »
Please excuse my ignorance but are wives buried under their maiden names?

I'm looking for the burials of the THOMSON family from Dunfermline and have found a transcription for Janet Sommerville (who married Robert Thomson in 1782)

Inscription            Janet Sommerville ... (Cathn) (Thomson) ... their son ... 1790 ...
Cemetery             Dunfermline Abbey Churchyard.

I found a website for this graveyard but can only access the Introduction page. Can anyone find out if there is a clearer inscription please.

many thanks

Jenny
