Yorkshire (West Riding) / GILL BROOKE connection in Mirfield
« on: Tuesday 15 March 11 22:18 GMT (UK)  »
The people listed below are recorded on the same monument in Mirfield churchyard, in turn they all lived in Water Hall, the males were all maltsters, and Samuel named his first son John Brook GILL.   This would suggest a family connection between GILLs and BROOKs, which I have not yet discovered.  Such a link might be concealed by being a second marriage, or might not have been in Mirfield.   Later GILLs sometimes used Quaker meetings for ceremonies.

John BROOK of Water Hall, Eastthorp, Mirfield, buried aged 84y, 16 June 1754.

Samuel GILL married Ann RINGLEY [BINGLEY?] in Mirfield, 6 Jan 1757

John Brook GILL, father Samuel GILL, baptised in Mirfield, 4 Nov 1757

Ann GILL   buried aged 36y wife of Samuel Gill, Water Hall, dau of Mr Britton Vicar of East Retford, 27 Aug 1758, Mirfield.

Samuel went on to marry two more women and died in 1796, aged 87y.

Any ideas, your help would be much appreciated?  Peter.
