Kent Lookup Requests / Dover parish records
« on: Saturday 06 April 13 11:29 BST (UK)  »
Dover parish records dating 1806 to 1812.  Seeking baptisms of Thomas, Edmund and William LEGGE.  Sons of Jonathan (said to be in the army).  Dover Castle church records start 1813!  Did find a LEGGE family in one of the parish churches - not our family.  On a visit to Canterbury (I live in the NE) I am not sure that I did cover all the parish churches around Dover, and did not look for baptisms other than parish church records.  I would be grateful if someone could do a look-up for me sometime.  Yvonne M.

Kent Lookup Requests / Dover Castle baptisms prior to 1813
« on: Tuesday 28 June 11 16:53 BST (UK)  »
Some years ago I visited Dover Castle church to view the baptism register.  I was disappointed to discover that it started in 1813.  Does anyone know if there was a register before 1813?  I am trying to find the baptisms of three brothers named Thomas, Edmund & William Robert LEGGE who were born in Dover Kent in 1808, 1810 & 1812, respectively.  Their father Jonathan LEGGE was in the army.

Family History Beginners Board / Steeton hall school, Yorkshire.

On the 1861 census I found a person whom I am researching. He is at Steeton Hall School which appears to be a boarding school.  What I want to find out is: what kind of a school was this?
