Glamorganshire / Thomas Powell and Ann
« on: Monday 15 February 21 11:50 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone please help?

I have Ann David who Married Thomas Powell 3 Dec 1823 St Brides Minor they had daughter Ann in 1825. She married Thomas Griffith in 1847.
Thomas Powell was a widow on marriage to Ann David,Thomas died in 1846 and left a will.

https://viewer.library.wales/877191#?c=&m=&s=&cv=&manifest=https%3A%2F%2Fdamsssl.llgc.org.uk%2Fiiif%2F2.0%2F877191%2Fmanifest.json&xywh=442%2C78%2C2168%2C2273

Thomas had a son Enoch Powell baptised 31 July  1815 in Coity Mothers name is Ann Morgan ,in his will it looks like Enochs name has been erased.

Ann Powell nee David died in 1851 and left a will, https://viewer.library.wales/599465#?c=&m=&s=&cv=&manifest=https%3A%2F%2Fdamsssl.llgc.org.uk%2Fiiif%2F2.0%2F599465%2Fmanifest.json&xywh=-276%2C0%2C3291%2C3450

In the will she names Enoch Powell as executor, also named are Elizabeth David wife of Edward David and Ann Llewellyn.

Edward married Elizabeth Llewellyn 2 Dec 1840 in Coity. Edwards father is John David Labourer and Elizabeths father is John Llewellyn Butcher.

In 1841 Edward and Elizabeth are living next door to Ann Llewellyn in East Gate Street Coity,in 1851 they are living with Ann.

Ann Morgan married John Llewellyn 1804 in Coity.

There is a baptism on Family search https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KCY4-LNH
I do not have access to Find My Past, could this be checked please .

I am trying to establish the connection but seem to be going in circles.

Could John David (Father of Edward) be a brother to Ann David ? and is Ann Morgan the mother of Enoch Powell although she would have been married and have the name LLewellyn at the time.

Thank you

Wales / Jenkins Family
« on: Friday 05 February 21 18:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Can anyone help ?

I am unsure if this is the correct board to post on but the family were living in Monmouthshire.

Richard Jenkins is my 2 x G Grandfather, i have his marriage cert to Elizabeth Tomlin  08 Dec 1849
Llanhiledd, Monmouthshire, Wales, there are no fathers listed for either.
The witness are Samuel Booth and Ellen Booth.

Richards sister Ellen Jenkins  married  Samuel Booth 01 Jun 1843 Llanhiledd, Monmouthshire Wales. Ellen lists her father as William Jenkins (Roadman)

In 1841  William Jenkins wife Harriet and 3 children Elizabeth Elener and Richard are  in Trevethan Monmouthshire.

In 1851 Harriet (a widow lists her birth place as Forest of Dean Gloucestershire) and Richard (who is married)  are living  in River Row Trevethin with James Broadrip born Pudlow Somerset and wife Mary who list her place of birth as Winterburn  Gloucestershire.

A few Trees on Ancestry have James married to Mary Jenkins, i can find no evidence of this, neither can i find James and Mary after 1851.

I have found Baptisms for Elizabeth (4 Jan 1824 Parkend Gloucestershire)and Elinor Rhoda (29 Oct 1826 Parkend Gloucestershire) on The Forest of Dean site, also a marriage for William and Harriet although the marriage is 17 May 1808 Awre With Blakeney,Gloucester,  there seems to be a large gap between the marriage and the baptisms of the children. I can find no baptism for Richard who is recorded being  born in Trevethin on later census

My query is can anyone find Richards baptism or any information on James and Mary Broadrip ?

Sorry if it seems long winded.

Thank you

Staffordshire / Sarah Poleman
« on: Thursday 13 February 20 14:53 GMT (UK)  »
I have found a burial for Sarah Poleman 24 Apr 1861 at Merridale Cemetery on Find A Grave.
The inscription says POLEMAN Sarah 15 years 24 Apr 1861 St.Peter 11615 (Coroner) U1/01899.
Would this mean a coroner was involved, have tried searching newspapers but have found nothing
Any help appreciated.

« on: Friday 31 January 20 16:57 GMT (UK)  »
I would appreciate some help, as i am going crazy trying to sort this family.

I have  Joseph Morris born 1864 Cwmavon.
I believe his parents to be Joseph Morris and Charlotte  John
GRO has a birth for Joseph Morris MMN John in 1864. D Quarter in NEATH  Volume 11A  Page 434

Findmypast has  a school record for joseph jnr in 1874 at Cwmavon School for Boys , names father as Joseph and date of birth 24 sept 1864

I have found a marriage for Joseph Morris and Charlotte John in Jun 1864 Neath 11a 772.
I do not have either certificate.

Joseph Junior is on the 1871 census with Grandmother  Martha Morris but his age is 6 Months.
Joseph senior died in 1866 and Charlotte is a widow in 1871  b 1847 working as a Servant  Gwainmarchog, Cadoxton Juxta Neath, Neath, Glamorganshire, Wales.

There is also a Richard Davies age 6 Mths with Charlotte in 1871, Charlotte died in 1878 age 33

Europe / Adam Reihnhardt Metz Germany ?
« on: Saturday 20 April 19 14:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Can anyone please help.
I am researching the Metz family in Germany and The Netherlands, in particular Friedrich Emil Metz born 1822 Leipzig died 1890 Lingen  married two Gelshorn sisters    i have found a  link for Franz Wilhelm Metz  who i believe to be his brother. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Wilhelm_MetzWikipedia and it states parents as Adam Reihnhard Metz and Rosinna Otto.

On Ancestry there is a tree showing them as parents but says that Adam supposedly chose a brand new last name and walked away from his past. Apparently he had been persecuted somewhere (Hungary?) and had fled to Germany.

I have no access to contact the person who owns the tree but am trying to find the marriages for Friedrich, would the fathers name be on certificates as they are in the UK

Sorry if this sounds vague but i am at a complete standstill with this as i do not understand German Documents.

Is there anyway of proving that Adam is the father?

Thank you
