South Africa / Sarah Johanna ENGELBRACHT
« on: Monday 15 March 21 16:16 GMT (UK)  »
Good afternoon,

I am trying to find any information on Sarah Johanna ENGELBRACHT b. 1 April 1917 in Saldanha, Cape Town, South Africa. It seems her father was Norwegian, but I know nothing about him or her mother. I've been told her parents died when she was young and she was raised by the Telemachus/Telemakkies family in Saldanha.

She may have had 2 sisters, one being called Enid Jacobs. She married Elario Francisco Garcia and had 8 sons ie. Francisco, Victor, Lucio, Thomas, Noel, Anthony and Basil (1 unknown name). They were Catholic. She died on 19 Feb 1965

I would be extremely grateful for any assistance.

Warmest regards,
Erica Rae

Other Countries - Resources / Norway - Odd Josephsen
« on: Monday 15 March 21 15:51 GMT (UK)  »
Good afternoon,

If anyone could assist me, I would be most grateful.

I have just received the DNA results for my father-in-law and its seems he is 35% Norwegian. He grew up in Cape Town. We think it must have been his maternal grandfather who was Norwegian. Family history has it that his mother (Sarah Johanna ENGELBRACHT) was born in Saldanha, Cape Town but adopted at a young age. Her father was possibly a whaler.

I have zero details on Sarah Johanna's mother, but think there may be a link (via DNA) to a Norwegian called Odd JOSEPHSEN b. 15 October 1891 in Aust-Agder, Norway, but i can find no information on Odd.

I would most grateful for any help?

Warmest regards, Erica Rae

« on: Thursday 20 April 17 14:52 BST (UK)  »
Good day everyone,

I have searched high and low for years, and just cannot seem to find the birth date and mothers name of Margaret M. Walker. I would really appreciate any help offered.

I know she was born after 1912.

Her father was Clement Robertson Walker b. 1877, Devon and d. 1952, Northampton. Margaret is registered on the death certificate as the informant, living in Moulton, Northampton.

I know she was married to Edward (Ted) Fleetwood in 1989 in Northampton and he passed away in 2001 in Northampton.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

South Africa / Dolman's Farm / Cohen's Cottages
« on: Monday 13 October 14 16:40 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone!

I am hoping for a bit of luck with locating Cohen's Cottages, Kalk Bay, Cape Town (where my husband's great uncle died as a baby) and Dolman's Farm, Lakeside, Cape Town (where he was to be buried / interred).

I have "googled" both locations and come up with nothing....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Family History Beginners Board / Finding William Walker's second marriage?
« on: Thursday 05 June 14 07:50 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I believe my great great grandfather (William Walker b. 1832 in Chelsea) married a second time after the death of his first wife (Emma Robertson b. 1835, Brompton), possibly to a woman named Clara?

He and Emma had 8 children:

WALKER, William (b. 1858 - Chelsea, London, England)
WALKER, Robert John (b. 1859 - St Luke's & Christ Church)
WALKER, Emma (b. 1861 - Chelsea, London, England)
WALKER, Edward (b. 1863 - Exeter, Devon, England)
WALKER, George Frederick (b. 1865 - Exeter, Devon, England)
WALKER, Mary (b. 1867 - Exeter, Devon, England)
WALKER, Annie (b. 1869 - Exeter, Devon, England)
WALKER, Clement Robertson (b. 1877 - St. Thomas, Exeter, Devon, England, d. 1952 - Brixworth, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England)

I would greatly appreciate any help tracing his second marriage.

Warm regards,
Erica
