United States of America / Lydia Thornton (Nee Billingsley) Burial Location.
« on: Wednesday 22 October 14 17:18 BST (UK)  »
Hello from a very windy Liverpool, England.

I am looking for advice to locate the grave of a Lydia Thornton (Nee Billingsley).

Lydia was born in Liverpool, England in 1859, married Charles Thornton in Springfield, Massachusetts, on 2nd November 1889. She died on 26th November 1935, Springfield, Massachusetts. Aged about 69.

In the census of 1930 she was living at 168 Plumtree Road, Springfield City, Massachusetts, USA,   aged   64.

I would love to find her grave (and a photograph if possible) to help fill in the gaps.

As I live in the UK, I am in the dark as to where to locate her grave and also obtain her death certificate.

I hope there is enough information here for some kind hearted person to point me in the right direction.

Fingers Crossed.

London and Middlesex / Marriage Licence's
« on: Wednesday 28 May 14 17:56 BST (UK)  »

I have an entry for a marriage, dated 19th March 1772 in Tower Hamlets in Middlesex. Obtained from Ancestry.

On the entry it states that the marriage was by "LICENCE".

Would I be able to obtain this  "LICENCE" and if so whom would I have to contact??.

I hope someone can give me a pointer, as I have hit a bit of a brick wall, and this might just help.

Look forward to a reply.

London and Middlesex / Joseph Billingsley in Mile End Old Town Union Workhouse
« on: Monday 04 November 13 23:31 GMT (UK)  »

I have discovered the death of a Joseph Billingsley.

He was born in Liverpool, but to my surprise died at Stepney, Mile End Old Town Union Workhouse, Tower Hamlets, on 5th April 1901. Aged 45 years.

Being from Liverpool I really don't know anywhere in London, so I would love to know where about this workhouse was, and could I access the records for it?.

Also I would love to find where Joseph would have been buried?.

I hope this enough information, and fingers crossed some kind person can help me with my search.

Here's Hoping
