Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Ware PRs for HUXLEY
« on: Wednesday 24 August 11 23:17 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the birth/baptism and parents of Elizabeth Rachel HUXLEY in Ware in 1813/1814.

I have her tracked through 1841-1881 in Shoreditch & Bethnal Green, married to Thomas William ORCHARD...they would have married abt 1835, probably in Shoreditch, but there is nothing in IGI or Findmypast.
There is only 1 Huxley family in Herts (Bishops Hatfield) in the 1841c, and the parents are too young to possibly be hers. Dead end :'(

I'd be grateful for any help, please
D.

Does anyone have info about this ex-pub (closed 2002)? My son's partner has just bought it (to use as a vets practice) and would love to know its history. I already have the census images, but is there more personal info around?

We are particularly intrigued by a plaque over the bar fireplace which says "In memory of Charlie Goodman, who's ashes are scattered nearby"... unfortunately, this is not dated... who was he?

I know you guys love a puzzle!

TIA

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / COMPLETED 1851/61/71 census PLATT please

Can someone please oblige with references for Edward Platt b 1805 Spitalfields, and wife Elizabeth b 1807 Spitalfields, both silk weavers, please?

I have them in Homerton in 1881, and know they were in Bethnal Green in the 30's (which is the silk weaving centre, anyway), and I do not believe they strayed much out of that area.

Essex Lookup Requests / BMD birth index help please
« on: Monday 13 February 06 22:54 GMT (UK)  »
I have been trying to find my Gt Grandafther's birth ref so I can get the cert... I know his name, Victor Emanuel Merry, and his dob was 22 Feb 1866, Plaistow, Essex.

I have been delving through the Ancestry BMD images, but can't find Victor.  I have looked all through 1865, 1866 & 1867 in case there was an error, with no luck at all.

I can only suppose that the birth was recorded locally, but it didn't get passed on up the chain to the National index (all the other siblings appear to be registered ok).  Does anyone out there have access to the local indexes please?
