East Lothian (Haddingtonshire) / Agnes Dawson - Whittingehame
« on: Friday 13 October 23 20:45 BST (UK)  »
Hello :)

I am trying to locate the parents and any siblings of my 5 x GG Grandmother, Agnes Dawson who married George Paxton in Dunbar 1801. I have a copy of her death record which states her parents as George Dawson, a Ploughman & Alison Kerr however I cannot find a birth / baptism record for Agnes (or any other children) nor can I find a marriage record for George & Alison.

Agnes was stated as being born in 1780 Whittingehame on the 1851 & 1861 census. I managed to find an Agnes being born in Whittingehame however to a Thomas Dawson & Janet Yorstone.

Do you think this could be her and that the parents listed on her death record were incorrect? Her mothers maiden name of Kerr would fit as Kerr became a family name passed down (beginning with her son).

Would the marriage record of Agnes and George Paxton shed light on her parents? or are the Scottish marriage records in around this date have the same information as England's?

Can anyone help advise?

Armed Forces / Penang Straits Settlement, Malaysia Marriage Record
« on: Monday 28 August 23 20:06 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Does anyone know where I can find copies of marriage records that took place in Penang Straits Settlement, Malaysia? I am researching a chap named William Paxton who may have possibly married a Mary Duggan in Malaysia in 1877. I am hoping that it notes his father's name so I can be sure this is the correct guy! Any help would be amazing.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Schonbeck / Piejontack Wedding
« on: Tuesday 09 May 23 19:34 BST (UK)  »
Hello!

I have an ancestor, Johann Friederich Schonbeck who married in 1816 to what appears to be Sophie Louise Dorothea Piejontack however I cannot find anything on her or them after their wedding.

The surname Piejontack doesn't appear in relation to this lady anywhere and i'm wondering if anyone can help? Is there anything on this marriage record that may give any more clues?

From the transcription, it states her name is Piejontack and her father's name is Johann however I cannot find anything about her, her family or the couple after 1816  :-[ I've had a look at the record to see if it was transcribed incorrectly however all I can see is Piejontack so was hoping fresh eyes could help?
