Renfrewshire / 1861 Nelson Family in Inkerman
« on: Thursday 16 March 06 07:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'd greatly appreciate a look-up on Alexander NELSON (born approximately 1827 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire) and his family. Wife's name was Elizabeth JENKINS, born c. 1830 same place as Alexander.

Many thanks!

Census and Resource Discussion / Sites similar to RootsChat?
« on: Monday 21 November 05 07:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Forum,

Would anyone here happen to know if there exist other sites as generous as this one that cater to a more international crowd?

The closest I've been able to find for my American research needs have been us-census.org (brilliantly helpful) and Ancestral Findings. I have had little to no luck with European or domestic queries at major hubs like Ancestry.com.

Any new recommendations to add to my bookmarks would be most welcome.

Durham Completed Look up Requests / 1841 - Dowell/Robson/Robinson
« on: Friday 16 September 05 07:35 BST (UK)  »
Hopefully I won't be thought too greedy asking for three look-ups in a single post! I am trying to pin down the spouse of a forebear of mine; her name was Mary Ann, she was born in Hetton-le-Hole c. 1828. She married a James Young, b. 1805, in the late 40s or early 50s. FreeBMD has given me three candidates for James Young's wife: Mary Ann Dowell, Mary Ann Robson, and Mary Robinson. If it would not be a great imposition, could some kind person have a look to see if any of the three ladies aforementioned matches what little information I have on this elusive ancestress?

Thank you in advance for your time.

Northumberland Lookup Requests / 1841 Emery
« on: Wednesday 13 July 05 08:38 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking a George EMERY (or Emary) in the 1841 census. Sadly, I have very little to go on aside from the fact that he likely was a miner and married an Elizabeth Scott (of Gosforth, born 1829) sometime between 1841 and 1851. I'd be grateful for any information available on any George Emery born between 1820 and 1830, if it would not prove impossible or too time consuming a task.

Thank you.

Hello,

I'm interested in the household of one James YOUNG, probably a miner, born c. 1805 in Lumley. Unfortunately, I am unsure where he resided at the time of this census. Any help will be gratefully received.

Thank you in advance.

Durham / Marriage Lookup - Chester le Street
« on: Saturday 02 July 05 06:08 BST (UK)  »
If possible, could someone help me track down the spouse of one James YOUNG, marriage registered in Chester le Street, March of 1873? James comes up on FreeBMD (vol. 10a, p. 674) as the sole entry for that particular month and year.

Durham Completed Look up Requests / 1851-1871, Alice Morrison
« on: Wednesday 29 June 05 07:34 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Perhaps someone could help me unravel a family mystery. My forebear James Young, born approximately 1850 in Coxhoe, was married on 29 September 1873 in Gateshead to an Alice Morrison, who was recorded as aged 27 at the time of the marriage (it should be noted that James's age is off about three years in the same record). Some time between 1878 and 1880 Alice died, as by the 1881 census James had a new wife. Not knowing where exactly she was born, if it wouldn't be a cruel and impossible task, could some kind person please tell me what Alice Morrisons appear in any census between 1851 and 1871 for Co Durham -- perhaps in the area around Gateshead or Houghton-le-Spring -- that might prove to be her from what we know, so I have some clue where to dig next?

Thank you in advance for considering my request.
