Cheshire / Surname is Carter Malpas, Cheshire.
« on: Sunday 04 February 18 18:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all  :)

I have just rescued from the rubbish bin where I volunteer,  three little books, they appear to be belonging to a young lady from the title location, they are as follows,

a little autograph book containing snippets from papers, autographs, " Jean Harlow M.G.M." , William Powell, Robert Young,  Greta Garbo, Robert Taylor, also there is a lot of personal musings and poems as you may find in a scrap book,

also two cigarette card albums, one of them is a wills card collection of hollywood stars, the other is our King and Queen, I cannot tell the name of the album book as it it wrapped in brown paper and I do not want to damage it,

I would love to try and return these items to the people they belong to but as the date given is 31/4/38, that puts them as still living,  I have the full name and address of the lady, also that of  her best friends name and address,  the only clue i can give is that the Surname is Carter,

If you are from this area and you have that Surname P.M. me. and I will give you a bit more,

Pete :) :)

The Lighter Side / Poems
« on: Monday 21 March 16 21:25 GMT (UK)  »

Just came across this in a charity shop,

Having been honoured for deeds of high daring
Having won glory and fame-
To a quite little house in a sleeply little village
Back from air he came
Home from the air he came
Home from the air to his corner of England
Deep in a peaceful vale
Where men talked of cabbage, cattle and corn
And nobody knew his tale
Until his grandchildren requested his story
And the memories were again reborn with glory

Greatest admiration, George and Pam Howells

any ideas as to to above mentioned would would be nice,

Pete :) :)

Shropshire / George Edwards,
« on: Friday 10 October 14 14:11 BST (UK)  »

Hi all  :)

not often I ask for a request, but can anybody on here confirm what I  suspect,

George Edwards married Sarah Rowe, 12 March 1808  Cound ( Shropshire ),  I have them on all census from 1841 onwards, this I know as fact,

I think George was born in Uffington,  son of James and Jane ,

Methinks there is a link with Ryton 11 towns,

Many thanks in advance for your time,

Pete,

The Lighter Side / Picture album
« on: Saturday 09 August 14 18:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi All :)

Not sure if I am on the right post for this bit.  I have just been given a picture album ,ab, i foot by 8 inches, it contains about 40ish pics of what seems to me as a family. The album is padded and made to look like a box,  it is ab 3 inches thick, but when you get halfway through the album it turns into a music box, ( it still works ), From what I can see from the pics and seeing from what the other people on this site do, ( dating clothing ), I would say its ab 1890 ish, I would Imagine the people have money, most of all the pics have got the photographers name and address on them on the back, ( the pics are in good nic ),

From what I can make out the family seems to have come from the Blackpool area, some pics Manchester,

The pics show,

Old men posing,
Young ladies in early tennis gowns,
houses

and so on,

I am not clever enough to post all the pics here

Thoughts please :)

The album to myself is of no use  to me I feel that there might be a member on here that might  be able to connect the album to there rightful desendents,

If You are ( oop North  :) } and think you can make any headway with this album, please P.M.  with your address and I will send the album to you, ( at my expense )   :'(

Pete :) :)
