Hi, according to the book of Bob. Williams is a gypsy name, I have a Jane Williams she says born Launceston Cornwall, however I cannot find a baptism in Launceston around that time 1798-1800, my grandad always said that his mother, Jane's daughter spoke Spanish, however I'm wondering if she actually spoke Romany and Jane taught it to her. Does anyone on here have any Williams connections? and maybe point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Devon / Jane Williams. Launceston
« on: Wednesday 21 November 12 19:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have hit a dead end with researching Jane Williams, I did post on the Cornwall board and a kind lady pointed me to this board, Jane Williams later Milson always stated on the census born in Launceston, but I didn't realise that Launceston was on the Cornish/Devon border and wonder if some kind rootschatter could help me find a baptism for Jane. She was born 1798-1801sh and is a real brickwall, any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.

??? I wonder if anyone can help? I have a Jane Williams in my tree born 1797-1801, she says she is born Launceston but cannot find a Jane Williams baptised at Launceston during this time. Where would be the closest parish to Launceston in this time period? This is really baffling me as I don't know Cornwall at all and have no idea where to look, any help would be very much appreciated.  :-\

Wonder if anyone can help? I have a Henry Smith born Bubwith, Yorkshire 1821, in 1841 he is with his brother Shallum in Pontefract as a brickmaker, he marries Sarah Ellwood in Howden Yorkshire in 1842, but then his kids are born all over the place, ie- Tom 1845 Camelworth Yorks, George born 1846 Liverpool, Henry born 1849 Misson Notts, Hannah born Rossington South Yorks and Mary born 1852 West Yorks, He finally settled in Sheffield between 52 & 61 and lived there until his death in 1880, his wife was a beerhouse keeper, my question is do you think he could have been a traveller?
