World War One / My other great-grandfather
« on: Sunday 04 September 16 20:39 BST (UK)  »
My other great-grandfather was George Langford of Burton upon Trent who was born approx 1893. I cannot locate him on the 1911 census but as he was between 21 and 25 during the period of the first world war I can only assume that he may have been conscripted and served during that period but am having difficulty finding him. Another great-grandfather Alfred Alexander Stone was born in 1884 and would also have been the correct age to serve during the first world war but again I have not been able to find anything of either of these people. Any help would be fantastic.

World War One / My great-great grandfather

Hi,

I am looking for information on my great-grandfather, Edmund Mellor, who I know was a Private in the 1st Batallion Worcestershire Regiment in April 1918. After this he seems to drop of the radar and I was wondering if there are any records of him from the war.

Thanks Adam Stone

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / MELLOR
« on: Saturday 30 May 15 17:03 BST (UK)  »
I have just received a copy of my grandmothers Blanche Mellor birth certificate. She was bon in March 1918 and it appears that her mother, Gertrude Mellor, either died during childbirth or shortly afterwards as when the birth was registered in the following month the mother is listed down as being deceased. I don't know if there is any other information that would be easy to locate as I do wonder what happened to the four young children after this happened with my grandmother being a new born. It really does beggar belief.

Scotland / McPherson, Alexander
« on: Saturday 30 May 15 16:57 BST (UK)  »
Alexander McPherson is my wife's great grandfather. He is listed on the 1911 census as being born in Scotland in approx 1861 but he have not been able to trace him to any particular part of Scotland. Legend has it that they were from the Inverness era but we are not sure. He might be in 1871/1881/1891 Scottish Census. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Staffordshire / Rosehannah Stone - Tipton
« on: Wednesday 19 September 12 22:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi my great-great grandmother was called Rosehannah Stone. She was born around 1847 in Tipton and I know that in 1871 she was married to a Jonathan Stone and had two sons John and James and lived on Canal Side Lane in Tipton. My great-grandfather name was Alfred and would have been born much later than that. Any ideas or help?
