1. I am looking into a marry in of one Richard Shergold to one Mary Hilton referred to by Boyds Index as marrying 1729 at London St Michael Crooked Lane....... which doesnt appear on fs.o as far as I can determine....... so firstly is there anyone who might have access to information ...ie newspapers, or transcripts of registers etc and so forth that may get a solution instead of a year....... with thanks.
2. Well I looked up the Hiltons through Mary , and came up with some possible solutions or scenarios that may be already solved by another researcher.... as to whom the correct Mary is that married the Shergold....
a] Richard & Mary Hilton at St Botolph Aldgate christened Mary 12 Apr 1702 who is buried 20 Jun 1710, Elizabeth chr 29 Oct 1703 who probably died infantile, George chr Sept 1706, Elizabeth chr 22 Mar 1708, Thomas chr 29 July 1709 , Mary chr 13 Sept 1711 with a possibly attached child Christine Hilton chr at St Martin in the Fields 26 Oct 1701 indicating a marriage before 1701.
b] Mary Hilton chr 23 July 1702 by Robt / Eliz at St Marys Whitechapel.
c] Mary Hilton chr James / Sarah 26 July 1713 St Bride Fleet St London........
There were other options of Lancashire, Notts etc but I find those not warranting attention.
Mary as Shergold is still alive round 1749 /50 as by the jargon on the probate of Richard Shergold but to date I have not ascertained her death....... which probably in the most likely scenario would be from an obituary or funeral notification.... which again I have not been able to source....
And finally of this; I am looking for a burial of the said Richard stockbroker in the area of St Bartholomew . Stock Exchange as he wished to be interred there according to the probate and that document was written in 1749. Also since he was associated heavily with that parish church has anybody been studying the memorials, tombstones or hatchments to see if there is a mention of my illustrious chap.......
One clue that may assist this post is the occupation of my Shergold is stockbroker with ties to business and church affairs.
With thanks to all who reply but please remember I have used anc and FindMyPast for this and cannot seem to get a final solution......
