Lancashire Lookup Requests / Ryder family of Liverpool 1901 - COMPLETED with thanks
« on: Saturday 16 March 13 15:34 GMT (UK)  »
I've lost this family in 1901 - all born Liverpool:
John 1867 Painter
Elizabeth 1867
Georgina 1890
John 1894
Ann Jane 1896
Gertrude 1899
I've got them in 1891 & 1911 - there could be other children as 1911 states they had 6 children who'd died by then.

I only need the 1901 - got the births & marriages before etc, thanks

Cheshire Lookup Requests / 1845 Marriage at Astbury COMPLETED with thanks
« on: Monday 04 February 13 15:55 GMT (UK)  »
From the GRO index & CheshireBMD Joseph Pierpoint married Ellen Jepson at St Mary's Astbury in third quarter of 1845. Is anyone able to access the registers (they're not on FamilySearch or FindMyPast at this date) to identify their respective fathers, please?

I've seen the marriage licence which doesn't give either father's names. My gut feeling is that Joseph is the son of Richard (and Ann nee Jepson), but Ellen may be the daughter of either William (and Frances nee Tansey) or Thomas (and Sarah nee Wood).

Pierpoint gets several spelling variations & Jepson may also be Jebson.

Thank you

Technical Help / Default programs
« on: Thursday 20 December 12 19:59 GMT (UK)  »
I'm using windows XP & Firefox.

Under Control Panel>Folder Options>File Types I've got Windows Picture and Fax Viewer set as the default program for jpg, jpe and jpeg files. However when I try to open such an attached file on here the box comes up with Microsoft Office as default so I have to click through to use Picasa, as the Windows P & FV isn't then an option. If I change the default under Control Panel etc to Picasa I still get Microsoft Office coming up when I click on an attachment - how do I get rid of this, please?

The Common Room / Overseas Deaths for British Subjects
« on: Friday 07 December 12 10:57 GMT (UK)  »
I've been trying to find out whether the GRO Indices for these (as on FindMyPast & FamilyRelatives) include people from Scotland & Ireland/Northern Ireland (depending on date) or just those from England & Wales. I've seen that ScotlandsPeople has some overseas records, so am unclear whether these are the same set or another one entirely. Can anyone advise, please?

United States of America / Question on New York records
« on: Friday 30 November 12 13:34 GMT (UK)  »
I'm unfamiliar with US research so have been browsing the resources area & found the NYC Death Records on the Italian Genealogy Group site:
http://www.italiangen.org/NYCDEATH.STM
I can't see anything that says whether these are complete for the dates shown or are still a work in progress. Does anyone know which is the case?

Thanks.

Technical Help / Adobe update - script problems
« on: Wednesday 14 November 12 13:43 GMT (UK)  »
I'm getting the same type of problem with updating both Adobe Reader & Adobe Flash Player. I can download the updates (avoiding the option McAfee product) but when I try to run the .exe files to install I get a message

Internet Explorer Script Error
Line 1
Char 12948
Error Object Expected
Code 0
URL : http//127.0.0.1:****/app/_js/adobe.js

The **** is four digit number that varies.

If I say yes to carry on nothing happens & saying no means nothing happens. How do I solve this?

I've uninstalled the Reader & sucessfully installed version 9, but can't go beyond that. I've done loads of searches but haven't found an answer. Can anyone help, please?

Adding - Windows XP fully updated.
