Scotland / Hugh McMillan - Please Help.
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 15:26 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to found out more information about my Great Great Grandfather Hugh McMillan. The only piece of paper I have that mentions him, is his son's wedding certificate... which is dated 30/10/1918 and shows his son John McMillan (aged 26) who was born in 1892 and an Iron Moulder, marrying Annie Storr, in Leeds, England. Hugh appears on the certificate as deceased. I have been told by various family members that Hugh and John were both born in Scotland, possibly Renfrew, wether this is true and when they came down to England... I do not know?

Can anybody help?

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / 1901 Census Look-Up Tingle
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 11:42 BST (UK)  »
Could someone please search the 1901 census for a Tom Tingle and Mary Jane Tingle (nee Knox) living with their child William Alfred Tingle (born 1898) in Leeds. Tom Tingle and Mary Jane Knox were married in Christ Church, Upper Armley in 1897. I am not sure where Tom Tingle or Mary Jane Knox were born... none of my searches have yielded much.

Appreciate anyone's help, thankyou.

Yorkshire (North Riding) / The Storr family of Sinnington
« on: Tuesday 14 June 05 18:27 BST (UK)  »
My great great Grandfather was William Edward Storr who was born in Sinnington in 1868 to a William and Ann Storr. By the time of the 1881 census he is listed as living in Ripon with an Ann who is listed as his step mother and her daughter with the surname Arnott. His father William Storr is not resident at the address yet this new(?) Ann is still considered to be married, so I assum William Storr was still alive at the time. Where could he be? Military service, working away, in prison or something else? And is the 1881 Ann Storr the same as the 1868 Ann Storr (they can't be)

I have managed to trace the Storr family of Sinnington all the way back to the 1700's there is only one Storr family in Sinnington so it is pretty much a given that they are my ancestors... the one thing I am missing is William Edward Storr's father. I know HE was called William Storr, from Sinnington, who appears to have been married to two women both called Ann... but apart from that I am clueless.

Can anybody please help?
