Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help please with deciphering a name
« on: Thursday 24 June 21 18:00 BST (UK)  »
Could anybody please help with deciphering the name on the lower right side of the postcard. I can make out the rest of the writing except the name.
"Dear Fred how do you like this photo we had them taken on Wed on the beach at Yarmouth. The other girl is Nellie she is so tall. ( it then looks like its Nellie .......... ) Best love Lottie."
I'm trying to find out the name to see who the girl was but can't make out the surname. Could it be Arnold?
Many Thanks

Hello, Could anyone please date the two attatched photo's for me. The first one is of my husbands Grandmother on Yarmouth beach. (It states this on the back of the photo). She actually lived in Manchester & was probably  there to see her cousins as her Father came from Kessingland Suffolk. She is on the left of the photo.
The other photo was sent to her & on the back, it says from your cousin Florence Ethel to cousin Lottie. We think this also came from Suffolk.
Many Thanks

Suffolk / Vicarage House Mutford
« on: Saturday 25 January 20 17:22 GMT (UK)  »
Would anybody know anything about Vicarage House in Mutford & Lothingland? On 1841 census it states the family are living in Vicarage House? Was this a workhouse?

Lancashire / Wood Street Brindle Heath Salford
« on: Monday 02 December 19 17:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I've posted many years ago about 1 Wood Street but now have a photo & wonder if anybody can recognise it. Wood Street between  Brindle Heath Road & Brierley Street. I was told there was only one house. It appears on many documents I have. On the photo it shows The Cobden Pub/Hotel on Peter Street & I was told the house behind the van looks like it could be 1 Wood Street. Does it look familiar to anybody? Many Thanks

Lancashire / Institutions for children
« on: Friday 02 September 16 08:44 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I posted years ago about this topic & am hoping somebody can help as I have hit a brick wall trying to find a child.
I have now found out if a child was born in the early 1900's with anything wrong with them  for example cerebal palsy they were called imbeciles! (disgraceful).
If a child was put away in an institution around 1905 - 1910 & they were born in Salford which institution would it be? Would it definately be in Lancashire?
I have found one of my ancesters in Glasgow was put away in  institutions from 6 years old until he died in his 60's, he had cerebral palsy & was called an imbecile!
Mary was born june 26th 1904 & baptized February 1st 1905 to Mary & Alexander Roberston 16 Primrose Street Salford (Greengate area). She isn't on 1911 census but her Mother states she had 6 children born alive, 2 now dead & 4 still alive of which Mary is one? I cannot find any trace of her on 1911 census. Are institutions on the census?
Any help would be appreciated as I really want to find what happened to this child.
