Sutherland / Patagonia
« on: Saturday 12 May 07 07:19 BST (UK)  »
I am looking into the death of a great uncle who originated from Durness but it seems died at the age of 25 in 1904 in Durness as a result of a horse riding accident shepherding in Patagonia. Was there a trend for farmers in the 1890s to go to work in south america? Was there money to be made?

It was common enough to see people emigrating to Australia,Canada and north America but I was not previously aware of Patagonia. (its roughly on the same latitude as the Falkland islands, maybe there is a connection there)

I am looking fo any information on descendants of Robert Anderson who died in 1931, occupation given as cemetary superintendant. I assume maybe St Duthus. He was married to Joan Barrie and he was the son of James Anderson and Jane Moffat. Robert would have lived at Esther place in Tain in 1913 at the time of his mothers death.

« on: Sunday 16 October 05 10:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am researching Maclean/Mclean. I have a Donald, Leachkin,  who married Catherine Mcleod 1890 at the ages of 30 and 19 respectively. Donald was an attendant at the asylum(craig Dunain). His father was Kenneth married to Christine Stewart.

Does this tie up with anyone else out there.

Inverness / Jane Moffat Mcpherson
« on: Monday 27 June 05 21:58 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping to trace the family of Jane Moffat McPherson ms Anderson, she was married to Simon Mcpherson in Tain in 1919. A district nurse, I believe she may have lived at 31 McEwan Drive in Inverness in 1931. Jane's father was Robert Anderson who was cemetery superintendant in Tain around 1927 before his death in Inverness (1931).

Help please.
