Michael Bielby born 1745 (in Yorkshire, to Peter Bielby and Mary Sampler) is shown in a number of publically available family trees as being married to a Mary. As it is in mine. I have been trying to identify Mary's last name and have come up against a brick wall.
I originally traced back to Michael (born 1745) through his Grandaughter Martha Bielby (1826-1910), his son Michael Bielby (1781 - 1846 ) who married Mary Bell in 1806.
I have tried all manner of searches to find Mary's maiden name. I can find no marriage details for this particular Michael Bielby and Mary. I have also run checks on all the possible Mary's (wide age range and geography) and checked to see who they might have married.
The only wedding I have found for a Michael Bielby of about the right age and likely geography is one to Elizabeth Witty in 1778 in Hungate, Yorkshire. However I cannot find offspring of this union, and Michael Bielby's (1781 - 1846) mother is shown as Mary in christening records.
For many generations the family lived in and around Malton/Settrington and their is little indication they travelled much beyond this area.
Can anyone see what I might be missing?
Thank you
