Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Marriage Lookup on Ancestry
« on: Sunday 02 July 23 11:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

Can someone kindly lookup the marriage of William Fereday and Martha Wassell in 1842, in Dudley? I’d like to receive the record as an attachment. Looks like it’s in this collection: “Worcestershire, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1935”. I thought I downloaded this record years ago but now I can’t find it!

Thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Abbreviation on Marriage License
« on: Saturday 16 July 22 12:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I’ve attached a copy of an original marriage license which has been reproduced with permission. Note the abbreviation WWS on the document; I don’t know what this means, nor did the Assistant at the Record Office. Google hasn’t yielded anything, either. Some context behind the couple, My Great-Great Grandparents; the bride was born illegitimately (don’t know if that’s relevant here), and the groom’s occupation on their marriage certificate was “Man of Wars Man” (Naval Seaman) and he was from outside the parish. Any ideas what WWS means?

Thanks

P.s. not sure why it attached twice?! The bigger version is much clearer.

London and Middlesex / Where is Park Crescent, Clapham?
« on: Sunday 11 October 20 23:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

My family lived at 76 Park Crescent in Clapham from 1919 until 1944. Park Crescent doesn’t exist by this name anymore; can anyone confirm if it was renamed Clapham Crescent; if not what happened to it or where was it situated?

Present day Clapham Crescent (off Clapham Park Road) is part of the William Bonney Estate which I believe was built about 1930. Is Park Crescent and Clapham Crescent one and the same? Are both synonymous with the William Bonney Estate? I live locally but visiting the Estate hasn’t helped.

Thanks!

For Sale / Wanted / Events / Wanted: Family Tree Legends (FTL) Program
« on: Sunday 14 March 10 21:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I urgently need a copy of Family Tree Legends (the program associated with Gencircles). My laptop was recently wrecked by a virus and destroyed my FTL program and FTL file (with all my data!!). I have tried to re-download it but the site no longer exists. Does anybody have the program? And can you please send it to me (via email)??
I need it in order to retrieve my tree using Gencircles.

Thanks!

Hi!

Unfortunately my 'ancestry' membership only extends to the UK records, so would somebody please dig up the details for one Douglas Muscutt in the 1920 census in Whatcom, Washington, born about 1900.

Thanks!

Ryan.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1851 or 1861/John Dawdy COX/London
« on: Sunday 11 February 07 20:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi!!

Could somebody please search either the 1851 or 1861 census, London, for:

John Dawdy COX/COCKS born 1817 (or thereabouts). I only have one reference to his place of birth, which was given as Aldgate, London. In 1867 upon his marriage to Mary Janet Cox (note the same surname, possibly related  ???) his occupation was 'Miner' and was residing at 20 Woodfield Road in Kensington. It's probably not relevant here but his Father was named Thomas Cox, a Shoemaker, who was deceased by 1867. A witness to their marriage was one Emma Jane Cox.

Furthermore, I believe this man changed his identity to become John James Belcher (it's complicated!!). For some reason this occurred after his marriage and Mary Janet used the name (Belcher) as well. They are my Great (x3) Grandparents. They had three children named Emma Laura (aka Emily, my Great-Great Grandmother), Edwin and Bertie. A rumour in my family is that they were Romany Gypsies.

Any help welcome. Thanks!!

Ryan.

Devon Lookup Requests / 1871/George & Caroline (?) MATTHEWS/Exeter
« on: Friday 09 February 07 18:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.

Can somebody please find a George [Henry] Matthews born about 1843 in Devon (probably Down St. Mary or thereabouts). His occupation has consistently been 'Labourer'. He should be married and living in Exeter, and I'm hoping his wife is named Caroline (neé Milton).

Thanks,

Ryan.
