Cheshire / Myra Aidley died in Arclid Workhouse in 1909
« on: Monday 13 July 15 21:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi Can anybody please help?

I have a Myra Aidley who died aged 79 on 21st March 1909 at Arclid Workhouse and was buried 25th March 1909 at St Peter's church Congleton.

Her husband, William Aidley was buried on 2nd June 1900 aged 61 at St Peter's church Congleton.

In the 1891 census they were living at 1 Booth Street, Congleton and according to the census he was born at Somerford Cheshire and she was born at Stourbridge Worcestershire.

Can anybody find Myra Aidley in the 1901 census and can anybody identify where they married?

Regards
Brian

Hi Can anybody help?

I have attached to this message 3 images, a baptism, a marriage and a burial all taken from the Parish Registers of Witton cum Twambrook, in Cheshire. I would appreciate peoples views as to whether they could refer to the same person:

The baptism attached file 'Cheshire111' states:
10th May 1635 Baptised Radulphus Audley Father Radulphi

The Marriage attached file 'Cheshire222' states:
5th January 1666/7 Marriage Ralph Adeley & Jane Hart

The Burial attached file 'Cheshire333' states:
21st April  1729 Burial  Ranulphus Audley, labourer & Cooper

My concerns  are:
the burial is 94 years after the baptism
the christian name is spelt differently, by one letter (Baptism: Radulphus and Burial Ranulphus) and
there is also a burial 28th September 1730 of Margareta Audley a widow. I can find no reference to the burial of the Jane who married Ralph Adeley on 5th January 1666/7.

All views appreciated

Hi, Can anyone please help me to understand the attached burial entry in a parish register?

To me it reads:

Jane daughter of Ralph Adley (sepulta) february 3.

Can anybody please advise the meaning of the word 'sepulta' (if that is what it is)?

Many thanks in anticipation of your help

Hi Can anybody please help,

Can somebody tell me what the bottom entry in the Parish Register for a burial says, see image below, the date of the burial is 15th February 1739

As far as I can interpret it it says:

????? Mary Daughter to  ???? Eliz; Audley ????
Can someone please advise:
What is the word before Mary?
What is the word before Eliz?
and What is the word after Audley?
Is there an implication that Elizabeth was not married?

Part of my confusion is that in 1724 there is a marriage of an Elizabeth Massey to a Ralph Audley at the same church as the burial. So I am wondering do I 1 or 2 people called Elizabeth Audley

Many thanks in anticipation of your help

Cheshire / Weaverham Parish Registers (1700 to 1780) Surname Audley
« on: Friday 29 May 15 17:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Can any body help.
I have been reviewing the information I have for Entries in the Weaverham Parish Registers for people with the Audley Surname. The baptisms marriages and burials are listed below in date order:

1706-07                     Assumed Birth of Ralph Audley based on age at burial (see below)
2nd December 1714   Death of Thomas Audley of Acton
3rd January 1737       Marriage Bride Catherine Garnerof Acton Groom Ralph Audley of Acton
9th May 1742              Baptism Joseph Audley Father Ralph Audley of Acton
12th November 1758   Burial Joseph Audley of Acton.
11th December 1764   Burial Eleanor (from Bishops Transcript); Ellnor (from Parish Register)  wife of Ralph Audley of Acton (Parish Register); of Weaverham (Bishop's Transcript)
12th December 1780    Burial Ralph Audley aged 73

From the above I am assuming that: Thomas Audley (buried 1714) was the Father of Ralph Audley (born 1706-07) and that this Ralph Audley married first to Catherine Garner (married 1737). The same Ralph Audley married second to Eleanor or Ellnor (surname and date of marriage unknown). Ralph's second wife died in 1764.  Ralph himself died in 1780 aged 73. This Ralph also had a son who was born in 1742 and died in 1758. Most of the above records refer to Acton.

Can any body please help me find:

The place and date of the burial of Ralph's first wife born Catherine Garner

The place and date of Ralph's second marriage to someone called Eleanor or Ellnor

The place and date of Ralph's baptism (around 1706-07). I have been looking at a well known pay to view/ subscription website. If I search for the baptism of a Ralph (without entering a surname) the search results give me a Ralph (with no surname listed) who was baptised at Weaverham on 5th February 1707 with no parent listed. (according to the transcription.)  When I look at the image I cannot find the entry. I am not even sure it is the correct image that has been displayed.  The transcription I refer to is of the Bishop's Transcript. For some reason I do not understand I do not get a search result from the Parish Register. Does any body have access to the Bishop's Transcripts or Parish Registers of Weaverham to help me resolve the baptism that took place at Weaverham on 5th February 1707?

For completeness I have references to a number of other people called Ralph Audley mainly in Nantwich so I am assuming that the Ralph Audley at Weaverham must somehow be related to them.

Many thanks in anticipation of your help

Hi Can anyone please help,

I have attached an image of a parish register and the Bishop's transcript of the same burial that took place at Weaverham in Cheshire. The person was named Ralph Audley and he was buried 12th December 1780.

With regard to the Bishop's Transcript, can somebody please decipher the wording to me it says
" Ralph Audley ???  ?????? Dec 12th ??? ????"

With regard to the Parish Register what is the significance of the words " upon his coffin"?

Many thanks in anticipation of your help

Brian
