Suffolk Lookup Requests / Reuben Folkard
« on: Friday 01 January 16 23:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I have been trying unsuccessfully to track down my 4x great grandfather Reuben Folkard b1759 for some years.  I recently came across a Reuben Folkard christened 1759 at Hasketon, Suffolk, with mother Elizabeth Folkard.  I think this could be him, as the date fits exactly and the name is not common, but wondered if anyone had any further information.  There was also an Elizabeth who was buried at Hasketon in 1763, but I don't know how old she was or if she was related.
If anyone can help, I would be delighted.
Many thanks,

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Birmingham trade directory look up
« on: Monday 16 June 14 13:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
Does anyone have a trade directory for Birmingham between about 1925 and 1940?  My grandmother Alice Swain had either a milliner's shop or a hairdressing salon at 80 Warwick Rd, Sparkhill, and I would like to know which of these occupations it was. Thank you so much to anyone who can help.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / William Henry PARKER, from Halesowen
« on: Tuesday 03 September 13 17:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to find out when and where my Gt Gt grandfather William Henry Parker was born.  I have found two entries for a baptism - on Feb 22nd 1823 in Hasbury and on April 6th  1823 at St John's Halesowen.  Both of these had parents William and Hannah.  I am unsure whether this is the same person, or whether by coincidence there were 2 families with exactly the same names, and why a baptism could have taken place twice. Or was it usual for a baptism to be recorded again later at the mother church? if anyone can help untangle this, I would be very happy.
Best wishes,
annmarg

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Folkard family parents
« on: Friday 11 January 13 14:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I am trying to find the names of the parents of Priscilla Folkard who was christened in 1793 at St George Hanover Square, and also the parents of Susannah Folkard who married John Buchanan in St Marylebone in late June or early July 1788.
If anyone can help that would be great.
(I already know that the Priscilla born 1827 is ours.  )
Many thanks,

Lancashire / Hough family Preston
« on: Wednesday 28 November 12 16:04 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know a member of the Hough family from Preston?  My aunt Vi was married to a John Kenneth Hough b1922 Preston, who was killed in an aviation accident in Farnborough in 1953.  He is thought to have had 3 brothers  Stanley B Hough born 1917, Harry L born 1924 and Richard G born 1927.  I  have some photos that may interest the family.

Best wishes,
Graham

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Charles Hunt All Souls Marylebone
« on: Tuesday 13 November 12 17:25 GMT (UK)  »
Please could anyone help with a look-up for the birth and baptism of Charles Hunt, son of Charles and Maria.  I found details giving birth 8 May 1826, and baptism All Soul's Marylebone 25 June 1827.  There's a big gap between birth and baptism, so the year could be wrong for one of these dates.  I particularly want to know the maiden name of the mother and the occupation of the father, or any additional info.  Many thanks  for reading this,

Staffordshire / Swain marriage Tutbury and Walsall Wood
« on: Friday 28 September 12 15:57 BST (UK)  »
I am working on the Swain family tree, and have a marriage between a William Swain and a Mary Swain (presumably cousins) on 27. 9 1796.  One well-known website lists this wedding twice - once in Tutbury and once in Walsall Wood.  I can't believe that they got married twice on the same day, and am puzzled to know why it is listed in this way.  Is it possibly that the one was just the banns, and the other the actual marriage? Can anyone cast any light on this, or know where to find details of Walsall Wood marriages, since St John's church in Walsall Wood wasn't built until 1837.  Many thanks to anyone who can help.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Reuben Folkard directory lookup
« on: Thursday 27 October 11 19:58 BST (UK)  »
My 4xgreat grandfather's name was Reuben Folkard 1759-1815.  If anyone has access to any London directories from before 1775, I would be really pleased to know if there are any entries for a Reuben Folkard/Falkard.  I have found one for 1776-1800 listing his address in Covent Garden and occcupation wooden toy maker.  Earlier entries could prove/disprove whether his father had the same name and occupation. I already have information about my 4xgrandfather's marriage and death, but not his birth, or anything about his parents and siblings.
Many thanks,
annmarg
