Is a Clerk of Works independent or attached to a particular body e.g. council or building firm? I'm trying to find out more about my grandfather who was a clerk of works, living in Wolverhampton until 1968.

If you are descended from Lily Redford I would love to hear from you. She married John Redford in Glanford Brigg 1924, they had a son John D. Redford born 1928. I am her great-neice, but know very little about the Readman family, and would love to know more!  :)

Northumberland / BLYTH- Readman family
« on: Wednesday 29 May 13 19:05 BST (UK)  »
I'm new to Rootschat, and this is a long shot, but I have been reading Blyth posts with great interest, not least because you 'Blythonians' have such a wealth of local knowledge! I have been trying to trace my grandfather Thomas Philip Readman, known as Philip, born in Blyth in 1896, parents Frank (a carter) and Eleanor. They lived in Market Street, Waterloo; Bowes Street, Waterloo; Disraeli Street, John Street, Cowpen, and last known address was 38 Delaval Terrace, Blyth in 1925. I'm not suggesting that anyone reading this was around at the time :) but stories may linger. He was rather a naughty boy, appearing in Blyth court more than once age 12! I would love to know what happened to him after 1925.
