The Common Room / Way to Approximate What Ancestor Looks Like?
« on: Saturday 15 July 23 19:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone.  I have a photo of a GG-grandmother and one of her sons.  Also a photo of a GGG-grandmother in the same line.

Is there a website or app where photos can be loaded and would be able to approximate what other siblings of the same son (mentioned above) might look like?  One of those siblings is my GG-grandfather and it would be fascinating to get at least some general idea of what he might've looked like.  This would be in the early 1800s.

Thanks!

Europe / Knoke/Knocke in Germany
« on: Sunday 12 January 20 16:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hello.  As I've not traveled to Germany and surrounding areas, I must ask for forgiveness ahead of time about spelling and ignorance about how locations are properly referred or identified.

My mother's side is of the Knoke/Knocke family line.  I would like to find death/burial information and locations, if available, for those who lived and died in Germany.  If someone will direct me where to begin, that would be great.  Some names, dates, and locations below.  Thank you.

Valentin Knocke (1548-1611): Rosdorf-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Claus Knocke (1580/1585-?): Rosdorf-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Melchisedech Knocke (1617-?): Rosdorf-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Christian Knocke (1665-1746): Mengerhausen-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Johann Christian Knocke (1697-1738): Lemshausen-Rosdorf-Gott, Hannover, Germany Preussen
Jobst Henrich Knocke (1736-1805): Lemshausen-Rosdorf-Gött, Hannover, Germany Preussen
Johann Christoph Knocke (1776-1846): Lemshausen-Rosdorf-Gött, Hannover, Germany Preussen
Heinrich Christian Friedrich Knoke (1819-1891): Lemshausen, Hannover, Preussen (buried in Iowa, USA)
John Knoke (1856-1926): Illinois, USA; maybe Streator, Livingston County, Illinois
Jesse Knoke (1892-1973): Noble Township, Cass County, Lyman, Iowa, USA

United States of America / Thomas Gibson (1723-1814) and Hannah Ring Gibson (1733-1810)
« on: Saturday 26 October 19 15:29 BST (UK)  »
Believe Thomas Gibson (1723-1814) and Hannah Ring Gibson (1733-1810) are grandparents.  Unable to locate where they are buried, however.  Death information for each says Connellsville, Fayette, Pennsylvania.  But nothing comes up as far as a cemetery.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks.

United States of America / Parents of Edward Shepard
« on: Tuesday 09 May 17 01:35 BST (UK)  »
Hello Fellow RootsChat Members:

I’m looking for information about the parents of Edward Shepard (1596-1680; Elmstead, Essex, England) who we believe emigrated from Sussex, England to US.  Sorry, no information on when Edward Shepard left England.

Edward Shepard married Violet Charnold Wolteron (1596-1648) in December 1620 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

They may have had two sons:
John Shepard (born 1627).  Born in England?  We’re not sure.
William Shepard* (1636-1676).  Born in Westfield, Massachusetts.
 *Father of John Deacon Shepard.

If anyone can find information about Edward Shepard’s parents and/or his descendants, it would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello everyone.  Oh, how I would love to solve the puzzle of how my great-great grandparents might've met in Indiana and made it to Idaho.

Here's the information I have:

JOHN DALEY
1827-1903, buried Placerville Cemetery, Placerville, Idaho.  This is confirmed as I've seen his headstone.  Believe he's from County Cork, Ireland per his naturalization papers.  Was a farmer in Idaho; near or in Horseshoe Bend, Idaho.

MARY FLYNN DALEY
1837-1927, buried Placerville Cemetery, Placerville, Idaho.  She is indeed buried there as I've seen the headstone.  My father's information indicates she's from County Connacht, Ireland.  Her death certificate shows her father's name as Andrew Flynn; her mother's name as Anne or Ann Golden.  Only "Ireland" as her country of origin.

Back to John Daley:  He arrived Baltimore July 15, 1846, age 26.  Per State of Indiana:
Aged 26, born in County of Cork in Ireland.  He emigrated from Cork 1846 and arrived in the US in Baltimore, Maryland, July 15, 1846.  He became a citizen of the US December 28, 1885.

John Daley had seven children per my records:
Elizabeth Agnes Daley:  1858-1860
Patrick Henry Daley/or perhaps Henry Patrick Daley: 1861-1924 (married to Cora Skyles but later divorced)
Mary Agnes Daley Penrod: 1863-1924
John Andrew Daley: 1864-1947 (unmarried to my knowledge)
Lizzie Jane Daley Reid: 1866-1937 (married to James Reid).  My great-grandmother.
Anna Theresa Daley: 1877-1941 (unmarried to my knowledge)
Catherine Daley Nash: 1860-?  Married to James Nash.

Any information is appreciated.

Hello, trying to find information about Henry Daley (perhaps referred to as Patrick Henry Daley), his wife Cora Skyles Daley, and daughter Anna Daley Shanahan.  There is also a son, Dewey Daley.

Henry Daley (or Patrick Henry Daley) lived in Idaho.  His parents were John Daley (1827-1903) and Mary Flynn Daley (1837-1912). His parents are buried in Pioneer Cemetery, Placerville, Idaho.

I have a photo of Henry/Patrick Henry, Cora, and Anna but unable to post as it says it is too large.

Look forward to information.  Thanks!

United States of America / Charles E Shepard, 1863-1932
« on: Tuesday 29 September 15 00:40 BST (UK)  »
I hope this doesn't end up being a repeat message on the forum.  If it does, I apologize.

Trying to locate information about Charles E. Shepard who is buried in Independence Missouri.  He was first married to May "Mae" Elizabeth Thatcher in 1887.  They had three children; Cecil, Charles, and Theodore.

Charles and May divorced but I don't have the date of the divorce.  He then married Anna Gerkin; they had no children per my information.

Charles was a well-known architect in the Kansas City.  When he died, there was an article in the newspaper and his photo.  I was certain I had the article and scanned it into ancestry.com but now unable to find it.

If anyone can find that article and send me a copy, I would appreciate it.  Or if no article and photo, any other information about Charles E. Shepard would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I hope this one works.  My father passed 20+ years ago.  Mother just died and want to post a photo of her in the newspaper and a photo of the two of them in the funeral program (brochure).  Would like to see if there is some way to remove the horizontal lines in the upper section and the shadows behind their heads.  Hoping this time my image is not too large to post; my information showed it was under 500 KB before but rejected.  Crossing my fingers this time.  Thank you so much.
