The local studies library already has copies and doesn't want them.
Just send me a message to discuss.

Denbighshire / Graves in Glyn Ceiriog Church
« on: Wednesday 25 August 21 12:49 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know if the graves in Glyn Ceiriog Parish Church are recorded anywhere? The church name is St Ffraid or St Bridget Church.

I found a couple of family graves when last there (years ago) but I'd like to know whether there is a gravestone for my 2 x great grandparents William Andrew (buried 14 Mar 1867) and Mary Andrew (buried 31 Aug 1889). Has anyone recorded the graves?

Carrog has a fantastic website with all the graves listed including photographs!

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Ancestry DNA v My Heritage DNA
« on: Saturday 14 August 21 15:38 BST (UK)  »
I had a DNA test with Ancestry and then another one with My Heritage.
They are completely different!

My Ancestry test pretty much reflects my careful family research going back into the 1700s.
My mother was as far as I know 100% Welsh so this makes perfect sense.
My two daughters came up similar, nothing unexpected.
My results show:
Wales 53%
England 34%
Ireland 9%
Norway 4%

My Heritage DNA is completely bonkers!
English 84.5%
Irish, Scottish and Welsh 9.9%
Baltic 4.7%
Middle Eastern 0.9%
How can it be so different? I'm wondering whether these are someone else's results.

Or is there a logical explanation for this because it makes no sense to me.

Many thanks for your thoughts.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Ancestry DNA - comparing two sets of matches
« on: Thursday 05 August 21 10:17 BST (UK)  »
I have access to the DNA results of two different people on Ancestry and want to compare their matches. Is it possible to show people who match both of them? As it is, I can only scroll down both their name matches manually and try to find common names which could potentially take hours! I'd have to write down all the names and there are lots of them.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Name of Photographer
« on: Sunday 22 November 20 12:25 GMT (UK)  »
I'm not holding out much hope for this, but we really need to know the name of this photographer, whether it was in London or New Zealand. That would help identify the person in the photo.

If you can see any reference to the place name that would be perfect.

« on: Sunday 25 October 20 11:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone find the death registrations for these two parents:

Charles Arthur Duce born 1893 England
Beatrice Duce (nee Coleman) born 1895 England

They emigrated to Australia 14 Jun 1928
Two daughters were with them:
Doris I Duce born 1921 England
Beatrice M Duce born 1923 England

I just need the dates and places of death in Australia.
Many thanks

Can anyone identify this road on an old map? It was there in 1949, that's all I know.

Merionethshire / Edwards - Gwyddelwern Marriage 1827
« on: Thursday 20 August 20 14:44 BST (UK)  »
In the 1851 census in Bodorlas (just north of Carrog) Merionethshire:
Evan Edwards (46) born Gwyddelwern Merionethshire, Maria (43) born Bryneglwys Denbighshire.
Children: John (17) Edward (12) and John Davies (78) widower pauper.
Note: I wondered if the old man was Maria's father?

Baptisms of Evan and Maria's children in Carrog Merionethshire (aka Llansantffraid Glyndyfrdwy):
Harriet (1828), Thomas (1831), John (1834), Isaac (1836), Edward (1839)

I need to find Evan and Maria's marriage around 1825-1828! It doesn't help that Evan is Welsh for John and Maria(h) could also be shown as Mary. There is one marriage in Gwyddelwen in 1827 that almost fits (see attachment). However, Maria (being about 18 years old) would have needed parent's consent. Also, for the marriage Evan is from Cloncaenog (not Gwyddelwern) and Maria is from Gwyddelwern (not Bryneglwys). It's the only marriage I can find but it just doesn't fit!

I can't find any other possible marriages. Have looked on Find My Past which is best for Welsh records but no luck. Any experienced researchers who know the area who have a view on this? Maybe Maria is Hughes or Davies but I can't find a baptism for her in Bryneglwys. There is a baptism which looks like Evan in Gwyddelwern 1805.

Cheshire / The Woodlands Baptist Chapel - gone!
« on: Monday 22 June 20 20:39 BST (UK)  »
Hi, does anyone know the street called the Woodlands in Birkenhead? There used to be a Welsh Baptist Chapel on the corner of Low Wood Grove which can be seen on this map but that corner shows a block of flats now. My great uncle was buried there in 1953 and I would really like to know what happened to the graves. Do you remember that chapel or know what happened to the graves when it was demolished? I think this was only in the last 20 years.
