Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Elizabeth FREAKLEY
« on: Sunday 03 September 17 06:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello all.  I am looking for the birth for Elizabeth FREAKLEY.

What I know,
Elizabeth married Luke Thomas Browning Sheppard 21 Aug 1820.  She was a spinster at the time.  No age is shown,  Neither Luke nor Elizabeth's father is recorded at the marriage.  Her residence was Wolstanton.
Elizabeth died in 1835.  Her death is recorded as follows:
Elizabeth Shepherd, Female, age 31
Birth Date   1804
Death Date 1835
Burial Date 31 May 1835
Burial Place Longton, Stafford, England. (I think at St John Church - now demolished)

The birthdate of 1804 would have made her 16 when she married in 1820.

Her first child Charles Smith Sheppard was baptised 29 Oct 1820.

I have spelled the names as shown at each event.

Many many thanks for your help...Yvonne

« on: Sunday 02 July 17 06:51 BST (UK)  »
Hello all
I am looking for information about John Holt and his wife Alice (I think her maiden name is Howard)

What I know:

I have a Joseph Richardson marrying Elizabeth Holt in 1844.  Elizabeth is the daughter of John HOLT.  Unfortunately the ages are a little out in the censuses for Joseph and Elizabeth but I think I have the right couple as Joseph is a coach proprietor.

I am trying to locate what I can for Elizabeth's family and I think that this is them

John HOLT and Alice HOWARD
Marriage: 17 Mar 1825 St Mary the Virgin, Bury, Lancashire, England
John Holt - Calico Printer, Bachelor, this parish
Alice Howard - Spinster, this parish
    Witness: R. Ainsworth; Sarah Howard
Married by Banns by: Robert Yarker Curate
    Register: Marriages 1818 - 1825 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Page 615

There is a child Elizabeth born to a John and Alice Holt 14 Nov 1826 who I think is my Elizabeth.

Are you able to help me locate census reports for John and Alice and also any other children.

I have found some births but am not sure which ones might be the ones I am looking for.
Your help with this is greatly appreciated

Hello all,

I am trying to locate the 1881 census for the following.

Thomas Cook or Crook (most likely the head)
Elizabeth Cook or Crook (wife)
Emma Richardson (dau)
Salford

What I know.
Elizabeth and Emma are with Joseph Richardson in the 1871 census.
Joseph died in 1875 and Elizabeth remarried in 1876 to Thomas (Cook?).  Thomas's name has been transcribed as LOOK on the marriage certificate. But appears to me as Cook
The 1891 census shows all three together and Thomas and Elizabeth are shown as CROOK with Emma Richardson the daughter.  They live at Silk St Salford.

By the 1911 census Emma has married and I have yet to locate Thomas or Elizabeth in 1911.

Your help in find them would be appreciated.

Regards Bonnie

On a cold winters day in Tasmania!

Hello, I am looking to get a copy of the marriage details below from the Manchester Central Library.
Can anyone tell me if you can just visit and look this up and either take a photo or print or do you have to order and pay for a certificate?  If the former is acceptable then would anyone be visiting the library who could help out please. I am in Australia and therefore unable.   I haven't located anything on Ancestry of Family Search.

Dumfriesshire / Birth of Nicholas Williamson abt 1836
« on: Saturday 10 June 17 07:02 BST (UK)  »
Hello all, I am looking for birth records for:
Nicholas (maybe Nichlous) WILLIAMSON, born about 1836 in Dumfrieshire (age calculated from her marriage to John Little in Eng in1858, her age was 22) and from Eng census in 1841 - 1881.
Nicholas was the firstborn daughter of Thomas Williamson and Agnes Jardine. her birthplace is listed as Scotland in the Eng 841 census.
Agnes Jardine is the daughter of Robert Jardine and Nicholas Johnston and she was born in Applegarth Dumfries. (Robert and Nicholas move to England somewhere between 1836 and 1841 with their daughter Agnes and Thomas)
Thomas Williamson is the son of James Williamson and Nicholas Rogerson and I have his birth as Closeburn Dumfries.
All other children for Thomas and Agnes were born in England and I have copies of their baptism certificates.  Nicholas appears to be the only child born in Scotland.  And given that the ages of Nicholas and her brothers in 1841 are 5,3 and 1 then I would doubt any other births to  the couple.
I hope you are able to help me locate Nicholas's birth.
Many thanks Bonnie.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Richardson Family
« on: Wednesday 13 April 16 06:28 BST (UK)  »
Hello from Aus.

I am seeking assistance with locating second marriage information for my ggf William RICHARDSON and also details of the death of his first wife.
William was born 28 November 1860 and was married to his first wife Henrietta HAWTHORNE (also born in 1860) in 1879.  They had 7 children of which my grandfather William born in 1899 was the youngest.
The 1901 census has William and Henrietta together with four of their children.  However the 1911 census has William living with his new wife Mary Ann aged 53 and the two youngest of his children.  The census also records William and Mary Ann as being married for less than one year.
I have found the death index for my great grandmother Henrietta  but would like to try and get her exact date of death and where she might be buried.(I know I may have to purchase a death certificate)
I would also like to find details of the marriage between William and Mary Ann.  William has recorded his birth on the census as Salford.
Many thanks in advance for your help....Bonnie :)
