Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / William Stannett
« on: Monday 21 May 18 04:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I'm looking for information on William Stannett born 1909 in Windsor. His mother was Edith Hannah Wilcox born 1868 and his father was Henry Stannett born 1873. He had seven siblings and he was the youngest. I know he lived in Eton Wick and was blinded by a firework as a child. He became a piano tuner and apparently moved away from Eton Wick. I would like to find out who he got married to, possibly in 1940's and when he died. I believe he had no children. Thanks.

Family History Beginners Board / Albert Stannett's Marriage
« on: Monday 21 May 18 00:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I am looking for information on Albert Stannett born in Eton in 1896. He is my great Uncle. I have him down as married to Elizabeth A. Lamburn on Ancestry but I believe this may be wrong. My daughter spoke to a man in the Eton Wick history group who actually knew Albert and his family and he seems to think he was married to Rose and had 2 children, 1 named James and a daughter. I thinking he may be right as Elizabeth was born in 1872 making her 24 years older than Albert. I could not find any other possible marriages to Albert. Just wondered if anyone had any information on Albert's marriage. I have been told he lived in Eton Wick in the 1950's and so did his son James.
Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Tapp- Burgess
« on: Sunday 01 April 18 04:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I came on to this site some years ago and got a lot of information on the Tapp- Burgess family.
I have recently started looking into my family tree again and I have hit a brick wall with the Tapp-Burgess line again. It is really confusing as sometimes they're down as Tapp and sometimes Burgess.
From the info I got from you before I believe the Tapp-Burgess came from Emma Towner born 1829 in Capel, Kent. She married a John Tapp in 1851 in Ticehurst and I believe she married again in 1856 to a James Burgess. I can't find any information on John Tapp, did he die or were they divorced? Her sister Eliza Towner born 1826 was also born in Capel, Kent. She married Richard Hicks in 1849 in Ticehurst and in the 1861 Census, Emma Burgess her sister and her 2 children Henry aged 9 and Hannah aged 4 are listed with Eliza and Richard Hicks. I would really appreciate any information on John Tapp and also Emma and Eliza's mother and father. Thank you in advance.

Hi,
My name is Debbie, My grandfather Frederick Charles White (born Pinkneys Green, Maidenhead November 13 1898) served in The Tank Corps in  WW1. He told my grandmother and cousins stories of when he was a prisoner of war but we can't find any record of this. He said that the Germans made him speak German, if he spoke English he would be beaten! His service number was
304722. He enlisted in 1916. I would really appreciate any information. Thanks

Family History Beginners Board / The Stannett Family
« on: Monday 06 June 16 06:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi my name is Debbie. I am trying to find some info on my Grandad's brother's and sister's. My Grandad is George Henry Stannett born 1894 in Chalvey  and he was married to Emily Tapp - Burgess born 1885. George;s mother was Edith Hannah Wilcox born 1868 and his father Henry Stannett born 1874. My mother's  brother Donald Stannett is 86 and living in Slough and would really like to know what happened to his Uncles and Aunts. He is the only one left on my Mother's side. There were 7 Aunts and Uncles:-
Ada Florence born Eton Wick 1888,
Albert born Eton Wick 1896,
Ethel born Eton Wick 1898,
Sidney born Chertsey 1901,
Oliver born Chertsey 1903,
Louisa May born Windsor 1905 and
William born Windsor 1906.
My Uncle has memories of Oliver being a train driver and Sidney being a painter and decorator. He believes Sidney went to Australia when his children were teenagers but I cannot find any info on him.
Any info, stories or photo's of any of these Stannett's  would be greatly appreciated.
