Durham Lookup Requests / Lookup request: Redfearn baptisms in Middleton in Teesdale
« on: Monday 05 November 18 14:28 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me with a lookup for St Mary the Virgin in Middleton in Teesdale?
The earlier registers are not available online.  I am looking for any Redfearn baptisms that might have happened between 1740 and 1750.  I once had the films at my local Family History Library but didn't look that far back at the time.

The Redfearns in Teesdale were supposedly part of the group of families that came from the High Peak district in Derbyshire to work in the Langdon Beck Mine in 1758.  A Captain Josiah Wagstaff brought them.
I am trying to establish if there were any earlier Redfearn baptisms in Teesdale.

I am directly descended from George Redfearn (born 1771, Langdon Lodge), younger son of Samuel Redfern and his wife Dorothy.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Can anyone assist me with a lookup?
I am looking for the baptisms of 4 of the children of JOHN HUTTON oo ELIZABETH NORRIS.
FAMILYSEARCH gives the same baptism date for all 4, namely Adam, Caroline, Henry and Arthur, the date being 27 March 1826.
Adam HUTTON was one of the Byrne Settlers who came to the Natal Colony, South Africa in 1850.  He was a passenger on the ill fated Minerva which drifted onto the rocks and was wrecked in Durban harbour - with no loss of life.   He is the direct ancestor of my soon to arrive Grandchild :).  Adam's brother Henry James Cooper Hutton also came out that year, but on another ship.  Adams son John settled in the Creighton District on the farm he named Bedford.  The Hutton family still farm there.

Thanks

Pietersma Family, Bolsward, Holland (my husbands grandparents and children)
Hessel Sjouke Pietersma, the father, was born in Dedgum, Holland in 1866.
There were 14 children.   A rough date would help me identify the children here.
Thanks

Durham / Incomers from Derbyshire to Middleton in Teesdale 1758
« on: Monday 20 February 17 12:43 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have any information  about the thirteen Derbyshire miners and their families who apparently moved to Teesdale to work in the Langdon Beck mine in 1758 and, more importantly, where in Derbyshire they actually came from.
My ancestor Samuel Redfearn(miner) born in 1726 in Matlock is supposedly one of these.  I am struggling to validate this connection to Matlock.

He and his wife Dorothy (N?) have children baptised in St Marys, Middleton in Teesdale from 1764 through to 1776.

Thanks
Sue

« on: Saturday 18 February 17 12:16 GMT (UK)  »
Would anyone be able to lookup the Church of England Bishops Transcripts for Richmond for the following marriage:

Samuel Redfearn oo Dorothy Carnaby  2 March 1754 Richmond, Yorkshire.

I would be particularly interested in any reference to age or to where they might have come from.

Thank you
Sue

Can anyone help with dating this photo?  I am hoping she is my Great Great Great Grandmother,  Anna Maria Friedrichs (born Burges) (Werl 1792 - Werl 1834). She could even be her daughter, a sister of my Great Great Grandmother, Katharina Elisabeth Friedrichs  who was born in 1826 in Werl (of whom I have a photo) and who died in 1906 in Paderborn.

Thank you
Sue, Johannesburg

This family group is supposedly Alexander Esplin & Isobel Bruce (my GGG Grandparents) and family.  Someone kindly posted it on a public family tree.
I am trying to identify the other individuals specifically one of the boys who would be my GG Grandfather John Bruce Esplin.
Alexander Esplin was born in Guthrie in 1799 and Isobel Bruce died before him in 1857 in Friockheim, Angus, Scotland.
Your help is appreciated.

This photograph was taken in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. She is likely to be my Great, Great Grandmother, Maria Herley (born Wall) (1845 - 1921).  Unfortunately there was no photographer's name on it and nothing on the back.
Thank you
