Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Mary Jane MUSSON nee RILEY of Loughborough
« on: Tuesday 10 May 16 11:07 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find a birth and marriage for my great grandmother, Mary Jane mostly known as Jane MUSSON nee RILEY.

1871 census Loughborough, Jane MUSSON wife of Alfred MUSSON, b. abt.1848 in Leicestershire.
1881 census Loughborough, Jane MUSSON wife of Alfred MUSSON, status married, b. abt.1851 in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
1891 census Loughborough, M J MUSSON wife of Alfred MUSSON, b. abt.1850 in Leicester, Leicestershire.
1901 census Leicester, Mary J MUSSON widow of Alfred MUSSON, b. abt. 1851 in Leicestershire.

Jane MUSSON is mentioned at Loughborough Petty Sessions in 1869.
Great Uncle Alfred John MUSSON'S birth certificate, Loughborough 1869, gives mother as Jane MUSSON nee RILEY.
Grandfather Archibald Bernard MUSSON'S birth certificate, Loughborough 1887, gives mother as Mary Jane MUSSON nee RILEY.
Most of their children were baptised at All Saints Loughborough in the 1870s and 1880s.

If anyone has access to All Saints Parish Records or knows if they are on line, that would be very helpful. Have the Leicestershire Phillimore Marriage Records, but Loughborough and Leicester are not included :(

Really looking to find the birth of Mary Jane RILEY (abt.1848-1852), have no indication she was married prior to Alfred MUSSON, but she may have been. Do understand that she may never have married Alfred.

Anything appreciated.

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Burrows marriage
« on: Wednesday 02 December 15 16:43 GMT (UK)  »
Any help appreciated.
I am looking for the marriage and hopefully the parents of James BURROWS, b. 1817 abt, Chaddesden, Derbyshire and Mary Ann ?? b. 1817 abt, Derbyshire.
He has a wife Mary Ann BURROWS in the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, and 1891 census all residing in Derbyshire. Occupation given as sawyer. He had a son James BURROWS b.1853 abt, in Derby. These are my 1st and 2nd greatgrandfather's.
I think this would put his marriage around 1850, when both would be in their 30s.
In the 1851 census, there is an Ann A ADAMS given as a daughter, so Mary Ann may have previously been married to an ADAMS.
I have searched marriage records on line and can find non that seem to match.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Knowles Family
« on: Thursday 26 November 15 15:36 GMT (UK)  »
Could anyone help me out with any information on the family name KNOWLES, in Lancashire, prior to 1750.
Specifically the parents of Thomas KNOWLES b.1750, in Sefton. Appears to have married an Elizabeth BYROM in Winwick in 1771.
The Knowles family line I am researching seem to be mainly from the Leigh, Leyland, Sefton and Chorley areas.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Musson - Riley marriage
« on: Tuesday 17 November 15 13:45 GMT (UK)  »
Still having problems with finding a marriage in Leicestershire for Alfred MUSSON and Jane RILEY.
Have birth certificate for Jane, b. Leicester, 1847. Can find her in every census from 1851 to 1901. She is with Alfred, given as wife in 1871 & 1881 census.
Have my grandfather's birth certificate it gives father as Alfred and mother as Jane RILEY.
Have found a marriage about the right time and place for Jane RILEY to E. WALKER, married 1871, Leicester. They had many children in the 1870s and 1880s, so this can't be the Jane I am looking for.
Have found Alfred in the census all records 1841 to 1891 living in Loughborough. He died 1900. Have a marriage certificate for Alfred MUSSON, 1874, Leicester, married to M BAINES. Certain this is not my great grandfather, wrong time, wrong place.
Anyone any ideas, theories or explanations  ???
I suppose there is a chance they never married, also a chance Jane was a Catholic.
Any help appreciated.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Leicestershire marriage record
« on: Thursday 29 October 15 14:15 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find a record for the marriage of Alfred Musson 1832-1900 to Mary Jane Riley 1851-1908 in Leicestershire. They are given as husband and wife in the 1881 census, with a 11 year old son John. Both appear to be single in the 1871 census. For 2 years have been looking for a Leicester/Leicestershire record of marriage 1871 or soon after. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
