Canada / Trip in August...
« on: Saturday 23 May 15 03:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello chatters (specifically ones in Ontario),

I am planning a trip out to Southern Ontario this coming August 20th - August 25th.  I will be staying in Sarnia for most of the trip, but would like to plan a possible meet with those that would be available.  I am hoping to meet family out there, but could venture out for a day if possible (London, ON).

I have never travelled any further East than Winnipeg, so my familiarity with the region is very limited and I did get lost in Calgary once so somewhere easy to get too..

I would like to arrange to meet as many as I could, as I don't know when I'll be making a trip out East in the near future.

Please leave me a message on here, or a PM, so we can generate ideas and a place to meet..

Hope to see you in August

Jeff

Canada / Travelling to Ontario July 2014
« on: Sunday 08 September 13 02:11 BST (UK)  »
Hello fellow chatters,

So I am planning a trip to southwestern Ontario next year, and was hoping to be able to do a small get together with those that I have had met on here.  For a date, I was thinking of somewhere between July 11th - July 29th, depending on the people I'm visiting's schedule, flights, etc.

The only other issue is where, I will be near London, Brantford, Hamiliton (I think) and I know nothing of Ontario highways/roads, etc. not travelling any further east of Winnipeg ever, and have never followed a GPS in my life.  So long as it is somewhere I can find easily or guided to is another factor.

If anyone has any ideas or would like to participate let me know, unless I have to rethink my strategy.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Greater Manchester County Record Office
« on: Sunday 08 July 12 01:58 BST (UK)  »
Hello listers,

I am currently researching an Ashton line of my great grandma's second husband Alfred Ashton born February 1885 in Oldham Lancashire.  I have stumbled on a photograph collection collection numbered 1792/1 - 1792/55 that link up directly with him and the family.  Does anyone know what costs are incurred to get photographs from this collection??  I would be interested in obtaining a fraction of these pictures if at all possible.  They are held at the Greater Manchester County Record Office not sure how to proceed, any suggestions would be helpful..

Thank you

Jeff

Canada Lookup Requests Completed / COMPLETED - Yet another BC look up lol

Hello fellow Rootchatters,

I have been trying to find information on my grandfather's first wife for a number of years but with no luck (part of the reason is the info is 56 - 71 years old), until just the other day.

I stumbled onto Grandpa's first wife's second husband's death record while seraching the Familysearch website, and I am wondering if there was an obituary in the Vancouver Sun published for his death.  Here's the details:

Vital Event Death Registration

   Name:     Arvid Emil Hendrickson

   Event Date:     1986 9 20 (Yr/Mo/Day)
   Age:            82
   Gender:         male
   Event Place:    Vancouver

   Reg. Number:    1986-09-015368
   B.C. Archives Microfilm Number:  B16582
   GSU Microfilm Number: 1358022

If anyone can expand on this I would be graciously appreciative, I've been pounding my head against the proverable wall on this one for awhile and wish to put this one to bed.

Thanks in advance

Angus (Forfarshire) / Possible Gravesones
« on: Tuesday 23 February 10 20:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hello lovely people,

Thanks to the great website deceasedonline I have been able to find a few of my relatives from Angus.  I would love to see if there any gravestones for these people but unfortunately I am in Canada and it's a bit of a reach to see them at the moment.

I am basically looking for them in 2 cemeteries Lochlee churchyard, and Brechin cemetery (the new one I believe).  If anyone is willingly to help me I would be most gracious, will wait and see if any responds before posting their names for now.

Could someone help me out with this photo?? I have been told it needs some work, and a possible date.  I have been told it may be 1910ish 'cause you can see my grandma's ankles roflol.  Grandma's hair was red like auburn in case someone does a color.  Thank you in advance.

Cheshire Completed Lookup Requests / Marriage Ashton/Hague Mottram in Longendale
« on: Wednesday 20 February 08 20:24 GMT (UK)  »
Heh... This may be in the same vein as the other Mottram posting.

Looking for details of a marriage between a John Ashton and a Lydia Hague July 4, 1824 in Mottram in Longendale.  I am curious to know John's age or parent's name, with a first name of John it's a little touch to go back another generation.

Thanks

Jeff

P.S. New to Cheshire/Lancashire research bear with me  :) :)
