« on: Monday 09 May 22 16:57 BST (UK)  »
We have always thought this name was Mary Hughes but we are not 100% sure as this name does not relate to any other document we can find.

Can someone please confirm what name this is.

We are trying to figure out which insurance companies my 2nd great grandfather worked for. We know he worked for Empire Marine insurance until they went bust.

But on his 1901 Cencus he is retired but there is a line that says retired insurance agent and below it there is something crossed out that says retired from .....?? and that is the word we cannot seem to figure out.

Any help would be great.

World War Two / Amos Hartley - RASC
« on: Friday 01 March 19 16:58 GMT (UK)  »
I've been doing some research into a family member Amos Hartley born 1918. I believe he joined the RASC in 1936 as a Driver his Regimental number is T/64660.

I have only managed to find a medal roll which says he was in Palestine 1938 and returned to the UK in 1939. But that is it I cannot seem to find anything else on him at all, its as if he never existed.

I have searched all the usual places National Archives, ancestry, find my past, forces war records but the medal roll is all I can seem to find.

Can anyone help me and point me in the right direction on where I could find more information on is service?

Carmarthenshire / Williams Family - Cwmllethryd Fawr
« on: Thursday 21 June 18 16:35 BST (UK)  »
I've been doing my family tree for a while now but I've come a little unstuck when it comes to my grandmothers family.

So I have her grandfather as Henry Williams (born - 1849 in Llanelly) and his wife Lousia (married 1878) living at Cwmellethryd Fawr up until 1881.

But then Louisa dies in 1890 but on her death certificate she is the widow of William Williams (Henry's brother) and their 3 daughters are living with William and he is down as their father on the 1891 census.

But I cant see to find out when Henry Died? also is it likely for Louisa to marry his brother or did they just say that he was her husband after Henry died? I cant find a marriage between Louisa and William?

I've been doing my family tree ans I've hit ab it of a road block....

my great grandmother Louisa Gwynne Williams born 1887 and her 2 sisters (Margaret and Mary Jane) where apparently orphaned at an early age, but we cannot seem to find out what happened to their parents (mother Louisa and father Henry).

We know they lived at Cwmllethryd Fawr Farm with his family for a while but then the whole family seems to disappear and i cant seem to make sense of it. if anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
