Anyway in 1888 2nd q she married John and her maiden name was Poston (though in 1901 her dad is with her as Voston)
I can't find her in 81 or 71 though any help would be great.

Lancashire / puzzler
« on: Wednesday 17 January 07 22:43 GMT (UK)  »
I have in every census upwards of 1871 a lady called Catherine married to Cephas Fernley. He by the way is a dream being I think the only person with that name. although on '71 he is down as Cephat...anyway I have the record off ancestry of their marriage 2nd Quarter 1869 Cephas Fernley to Katharine Coleran. (yes with a K)
I can't find her on any previous census though when she's married her b/place is given as Ashton-under-Lyne...where is she?
One for the Sherlocks out there  ;D

« on: Sunday 14 January 07 00:07 GMT (UK)  »
I have maybe asked this many moons ago and have either forgotton the answer or maybe never asked ???
What I would like to know is findind out about pre 1837's. I have my Anthony Newby b feb 1767 in Kirkby Ireleth Lancs. His father John b. abt 1731 in Dalton and his mother was a Mary Fox. Unfortunately there are already a few candidates on IGI   what is the sensible way to proceed?

many thanks
