Flintshire / Buckley Cemetery
« on: Friday 19 April 24 11:56 BST (UK)  »
I am interested in a burial of Agnes Evans aged 48 in Buckley on 23 Dec 1916 (Page 90), but live too far away to visit. I would like to know where she is buried, and should there be a stone, if she is with anyone. Does anyone know if the gravestones have been transcribed?

Travelling People / Agnes Williams
« on: Monday 15 April 24 12:11 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information relating to Agnes Williams.
Her parents were Samson Williams (Scamp) and Gravalina Lee.
1881: Census . Gipsy Tent Penyard . Dyffrynclydach, Glamorganshire
Agnes Williams . Daughter . F . 15 . Caerffili, Glamorganshire
Agnes Williams . mmn Lee
Jan-Mar 1867 . Pontypridd . Volume 11a . Page 295

Does anyone know who she married/partnered?

Cardiganshire / Henry Richards and Daughter Margaret
« on: Friday 15 March 24 17:19 GMT (UK)  »
I may have found my g-g-grandfather, but cannot be sure. If right, he had a half-brother called Henry Richards b.1841 in Troedyraur, Cardiganshire. Now I want to follow his family forward to see if I can find DNA matches.

He appears on most censuses from 1841 to 1901, though I am not certain in 1871, when single and probably in London.
1881 Census: St Bartholomew, Middlesex . RG11 . Piece/Folio 374/109 . Page 11 – Henry is a provisions dealer, it names his wife as Hannah and there is a son Daniel Richards 2 Bow, Middlesex and daughter Margaret Richards 0.
Between 1884 and 1901 Anna/Anne/Hannah died. Daniel died as an infant. Henry with remaining children move to Cardiganshire.
1891 Census: Troedyraur, Cardiganshire . RG12 . Piece/Folio 4548/ 47 . Page 5 Henry is a Grocer with  Margaret Richards 10 and Eleanor Richards 6 both born in London.
1901 Census: Troedyraur, Cardiganshire . Schedule 7 . Piece/Folio 42 . Page 1
and then General Labourer. Only Margaret (Maggie) is with him.

Now I am struggling and need some help: I cannot find Henry in 1911. If he remained in the Troedyraur area, a death should be registered in Newcastle Emlyn, but I cannot find anything, so did he move?
There is a Henry Richards in Aberayron b.1840, but having delved deeper it is not him.

From the children, it looks like mmn was Davi(e)s and these are the most likely registrations:
Daniel Richards . Apr-Jun 1879 . London City . Volume 01c . Page 18
Margaret Jane Richards . Oct-Dec 1880 . Poplar . Volume 01c  Page 663
Eleanor Henrietta Elizabeth Richards . Apr-Jun 1884 . St Saviour Surrey . Volume 01d . Page 107 (It fits with mmn and could link with a death registration for Anna.) Daniel Richards died as a young infant.

I found a death registration for Eleanor in Eastleigh, Hampshire, 1977. Her full name and birth date matches. There is probate which might tell me something.

In wanting to move forward I am already stuck, and on my last option. What happened to Margaret? There is a marriage if Margaret also used Jane: Jul-Sep 1909. Newcastle Emlyn . Volume 11b . Page 43. Margaret Jane Richards married either Daniel Lloyd or Thomas Davies. I have looked for both surnames and found nothing.

I came across a 1911 census record of interest for Henry Richards at Maesgwyn Cross Inn; RG14 . Schedule 13 . Piece/Folio 25 . Page 6.
Online translators do not offer anything.
Marital Status: GWEDW
Occupation: TARI BURY
There may be an issue between Enumerator and transcription.
Can someone translate?

Cardiganshire / Yetgoch in Troedyraur, Cardiganshire
« on: Tuesday 12 March 24 01:08 GMT (UK)  »
I use Family Search and do not know if it is possible to search for those living in a house. Looking for Richards or Williams, though I am also interested in others who lived at Yetgoch in Troedyraur, Cardiganshire. From different censuses I have found Margaret Richards and Sarah Richards. I suspect they might be related, but need more information. There are houses called Yetgoch in other areas, but I am only looking at the one in Troedyraur.

Cheshire / Looking for a Grave: Goulding
« on: Thursday 08 February 24 15:48 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the grave of my grandparents who lived in Over, Winsford. Maggie Goulding (Ikin) died in 1984, aged 82, born 11th May 1902. George Goulding died Oct-Dec 1966, aged 65 born Jul-Sep 1901. I believe they will be buried together. St. Chad’s, Over seemed the logical place, but I have contacted the church and they are not there. I also looked on Find a Grave and Billion Graves with nothing offered.
Is there a way of finding out where they were buried/cremated?

Carmarthenshire / Jonah and Margaret Howell
« on: Saturday 30 December 23 16:55 GMT (UK)  »
Wanting to fill out my family tree, I am interested in following Jonah and Margaret Howell. They are my paternal great-great grandparents, with their daughter Margaret marrying Thomas Williams in 1855. In a very small area, there are two called Jonah Howell and both married a Margaret. The one I am interested in married Margaret Powell, and the other married Margaret Lewis.

Christening: Margaret Howell . Female (great-great grandmother)
Birth: 19 Jun 1834 . Christ: 2 Jul 1834
Parents: Jonah Howell . Margaret Powell
Philadelphia Independent, Laugharne, Carmarthenshire

Marriage: Parish Register St Sadwrn Llansadwrnen Carmarthenshire
10 Jan 1818
Jonah Howell (Eglwys Cymyn) Batchelor . Labourer . Signed X
Margaret Powell . Spinster . Signed X
Witnesses James Welsh . Thomas Meriman  . ? Mess?

1841 Census: Hill Mountain . Llansadurnen, Carmarthenshire
Mary Howell . 13 . Carmarthenshire
David Howell . 11 . Carmarthenshire
John Howell . 8 . Carmarthenshire
Margret Howell . 7 . Carmarthenshire
Thomas Howell . 5 . Carmarthenshire
Elizabeth Thomas . 10 . Carmarthenshire
Mary John . 8
John Sare . 1
HO107 . Piece/Folio 1382/4

I have information about Mary John and John Sear.

1851 Census: Gosport St . Laugharne
Jonah Howell . 60 . Head . Labourer
Margaret Howell . 59 . Wife . Gathers Cockles
Margaret Howell . Daughter . 14 . Laugharne
John Sarn . 12 . Nursed Child
Thomas Morgans . 4 . Grandson

1861 Census for Laugharne/Llansadurnen was destroyed.

There are two deaths that add to the confusion:
Burial: Jonah Howell . Llansadurnen, Carmarthenshire
Birth: 1780 - October 1863
Death: Jonah Howell . 80 (1802). Line Number 229
Jan-Mar 1882 . Carmarthen . Volume 11A . Page 543
In finding the burial for the older Jonah Howell in Llansadurnen, I now wonder if they could be father and son? There is around 20 years between. I looked around the graveyard but could not find his stone, though large areas have been allowed to run wild in the name of conservation.

Then I find the 1881 census record. It is after the 1782 Jonah has died. The births fit the 1802 Jonah, but not the profession. Could he have taken over his father’s business? Is there another Jonah Howell?
1881 Census: Laugharne (Civil Parish), Carmarthenshire
Jonah Howells . 80 (1801) . Married . (Sailor/Pauper) . Bankyfelin, Carmarthenshire
Margt Howells . 83 (1798) . Married . Llanybri, Carmarthenshire
RG11 . Piece/Folio 5395/72 . Page 11

If anyone can offer some rationale to my search and confusion it will be much appreciated.

London and Middlesex / Betty May Ashford nee Williams
« on: Tuesday 12 December 23 15:20 GMT (UK)  »
On the 1939 Register one redacted entry was opened earlier in the year.
B M Williams Amended
The register also noted she married Frederick W Ashford.
Apr-Jun 1949 . Woolwich . Volume 5d . Page 2147
He died 21 December 1966
Death: Frederick W Ashford . 48 . b.1918
Oct-Dec 1966 . Woolwich . Volume 5e . Page 942
Probate: London 30 March 1967 to B M Ashford widow. At that time, they were living at 5 Ladysmith Road, Eltham, London. Amended

I cannot find a death or marriage. Even though the 100 year rule has passed, she may still be alive. There are possible children and a marriage, but nothing for certain. I am trying to make sense of what happened next. Where were they living 1949 to 1966? Possible children; 1947 Bromley and before marriage, 1953 Dartford, 1957 and 1960 Maidenhead, 1963 Wood Green.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Y-DNA the results.
« on: Tuesday 12 December 23 00:10 GMT (UK)  »
Those I am looking for are my g-g-grandfather and g-g-g-grandfather and from my direct paternal lineage. I already know their names are Thomas Williams and John Williams. I would like to know my Haplogroup. Will I only receive those who share my Haplogroup and/or the name Williams?
If I take a Y-DNA test, what will I receive?
