Armed Forces / Help!! Translating Army Records
« on: Tuesday 01 March 11 12:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, just come across Army Records 10 pages for John Copeland (3x grandfather) b/1811 Aberdeen Scotland, joined the 84th in 1830 at Liverpool, seems a colourful character,Court Martialled twice and imprisoned, once with hard labour, desertion and drunkenness.
Discharged in 1854 at Chatham on what looks like medical grounds, but can't read it, so hoping someone can.

Has anybody done any research on this Workhouse in Plymouth?,where would people have been buried if they died there? (c1919).
I have been on the Workhouse site, but the info i am after is not there, only that records may have been destroyed in WW2.

Devon Lookup Requests / Library lookup (Newspapers)
« on: Sunday 19 October 08 12:27 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for a newspaper article regarding my mother round about the 1930s (early to middle),as the story goes, they had returned from India to live in Salcombe, she was in her early teens at the time (b/1921),apparently she saved a young child from drowning, she may have been at school at the time, as she said on arriving home soaking wet her mother thought she had been up to no good and sent her to bed. Her mother found out what she had done when some one knocked at the door and told her. My mother said it was reported in the papers.
Her name was Ann Eadon.

Would like to add they moved a fair bit in the Devon area after Salcombe, but have the impression it happend in Salcombe.

Would love to find this article as she is no longer with us and i live in Berkshire. Belle.
