Occupation Interests / Customs House in Scotland

Hi All,

I have recently broken through a brick wall and found an ancestor who was described as a customs house officer.  Does anyone know of any good online sources that will give me some background information on the day to day life of a custom house officer in Scotland in the early 1800s?
