The Common Room / Family death mention in Belfast Newspaper
« on: Monday 07 August 23 16:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Sorry if this is in the wrong place for this. I have found a possible relation of mine, Paul Allen from Burt, Donegal was mentioned in the Belfast Newsletter, 1872.

I think his son William Allen, my direct ansector either became a catholic or was brought up in a mixed marriage.

Would anyone know why Paul Allen was listed in the Newsletter since he died and and lived in Burt?

Donegal / Paul Allen from Toulett, Burt
« on: Sunday 06 August 23 13:03 BST (UK)  »
I have posted this before but have found more information if someone would be able to help.

My three times great grandfather William Allen from Toulett married Ellen Collins from Carrowreagh in 1878

The marriage certifcate doesn't give the name of Williams father but the records of 1864 show there is a Paul Allen living in Toulett.

Paul Allen died in 1872, Toulett with a John Dobbins present from Carrowreagh who was listed as a householder and Paul was a saddler. The wedding certicifcate shows a Willima Dobbins was a witness to Williams wedding.

There was also an Eleanor Allen who died in 1877 and lived in Carrowreagh and William Allen - my three times great grandfather was present, lived in Toulett and was also listed as the householder

Hi

My 4 times great grandmother was Elisa Stoops (I think this is the correct name) was married to Bernard Duffy in Armagh Jan 1818. I think from my familes research the father of Elisa is Richard nad there was a record of him being in the 26th Or Camerian Regt Of Infantry Alsmeide Armagh. Is this right?

Monaghan / Owen Duffy & Teresa McAree Wedding
« on: Friday 09 July 21 12:13 BST (UK)  »
On my 2 times great grandparents wedding certificate it says "Banns: Banns dispensed by the Bishop"
Can anyone help me with a definition? Owen's mother in law was a Duffy and his uncle also married a
McAree. Could it be a family connection?

Hi

I am looking for Paul Allen living in Westminster, 1841. I don't have a lot of information but I do know there was a Paul Allen who died in Donegal, 1872. According to his death certificate he was 82 and would have been born in 1791, not sure if this is the same Paul Allen but he was a saddler which could help and in 1833 had a son Paul Allen and married a Mary Allen, no maiden name given.

He was part of the Church  of Ireland which is similar to the Church of England. I have the link below if anyone can help find any information, thanks

I think I had a great aunt Mona Kane married Peter Maginnis in New York, possibly in the 1920's. All I know is they had 3 children. One of the sons went to New Jersey. I have Mona's birth certificate and I can't find the marriage certificate through Ireland.

I don't have access to view the wedding certifcate if anyone could help

Donegal / Looking for the Church of Ireland in Burt
« on: Friday 18 June 21 16:10 BST (UK)  »
I am related to Allens from Burt. My 3 times great grandfather married a catholic. (Already have details). It says there was a Paul Allen who died in 1872. I found a record of his son, Paul Allen. The father (Paul) was a saddler as was William. I believe that Paul was William's father.

Paul Allen is listed as the Church of Ireland in 1833 living in Mullanboys, married to Mary, no maiden name given. I also found found an Eleanor Allen who died in 1877 Burt, however her husband was a sailor. Not sure who the husband is.

Can someone help me identify were the present day Church of Ireland would be? I just want to know where the grave yards are. I think COI become a resturant in the 1970's.
