Europe / Trying to find Pierson/Pearson in County Tyrone

Hello, I am such a newby it is almost embarrassing. I have a name of Ellen Pierson (Pearson?) whose father was William. They lived in County Tyrone, Ireland. Ellen is supposed to have married Louis Dumas from Switzerland on the boat to America. Their first child, Louis, was born in Philadelphia, PA USA in 1885.
I can't seem to find any record of an Ellen Pierson (1871-1931) in County Tyrone with a father named William.
Where do I start? Also, which software or genealogy memberships are worth their weight? Thank you for any help you can offer. Michelle
