Hi

I'm looking to see if Gladys Horrell, who died in Newbury, Berkshire, in October 1987 left a will.  I know that the records can be checked at Probate Search Room, First Avenue House, 42-49 High Holborn, London, WC1V 6NP and then a Will can be purchased if this is so.

If anyone is going to go soon could they please try and see if Gladys left a will.  Horrell is her birth name so she obviously didn't marry so we are interested to see who she made her beneficiaries.

Thank you
Dee

I am looking for a marriage of Joseph Woodhead and Jane Stafford in 1848 at St. Mary's, Stockport, Cheshire, which are held in Manchester Central Library
The reference for this film is Marriages-1847-1853- MFPR 379

If anyone is going to the archives and feels kind enough to look for this for me I would be very grateful.  I am looking for as much detail as possible... Father's names... occupations addresses... Witness etc.

Thanks in advance

I have also posted this on the Lancashire board as the records are kept at Manchester and also Stockport libraries, thanks.

Australia Lookups completed / Wilfred Welsby born 1906 moved to WA COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 10 April 08 23:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi I think I need some help!!

I have a Wilfred Welsby born 1906 in Denton, Cheshire who we thought was my dad's uncle.  It turns out that he was actually my dad's cousin, as his mum was my grandads sister, if that makes sense? Anyway he turns up in Australia in 1934 at the latest, but it is probably before 1928.  He married in 1934.  The family over there know his details from that time onwards.

There is a W H Welsby left England in 1924 to Australia but I'm not convinced it is the right one as he is aged 20 and from Warrington, there is a William Henry Welsby born 1904 in the right place..... so I'm thinking its him, not my Wilfred.  I do not know where else to check for this information as I seem to be hitting a brick wall (yes another one!)

Please can someone help me

Hi

Right Im having difficulty trying to find who George Lee married for his second wife, who just happens to be the mother of my relative - typical.

Ok by 1851 he has one child and is a widow aged 22.  He was born in Chesterfield.  By 1861 he has 4 children and a new wife, who he married in 1858 in Chesterfield.  His youngest child is by this new wife, who is only 18.  This child was born in Chesterfield.

Ok it is the middle 2 children that concern me.  They are Alfred born 1855 and Sydney born 1856 both in Darnall, Sheffield.  Sometime between Sydney being born and the marriage to his 3rd wife in 1858 his second wife died.

What I am trying to find is the name of George Lee's 2nd wife, the mother of Alfred and Sydney.  I am either after a marriage of George Lee (father Richard Lee, farm labourer) to an unknown person, or the christening details of Alfred and Sydney Lee with father George Lee and mother unknown.

I have checked LDS, FreeBMD (which has a couple of George Lees which would fit the bill but no proof).

The two churches that I think could hold these records are :
Holy Trinity, Darnall, Sheffield, parish 28 OR
Chapel of Ease (Christ Church) Attercliffe, Sheffield parish 28

This would help me to solve a puzzle, who Alfred's mum was!

Thanks in anticipation for your help:D

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Gamaliel Ripley - Saddleworth
« on: Saturday 03 March 07 22:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I would appreciate a lookup for the baptism of a Gamaliel Ripley c1805 in Saddleworth or thereabouts.  This is the place of birth given on the census.  He died in 1857.

I have his marriage in 1827 to Betty Baron in Rochdale, St. Chad's.  He was a stone mason and there are families upon families of Ripley Stonemasons in Saddleworth.

Cumberland Completed Lookups / Bapt. Samuel Harryman Gritton COMPLETED
« on: Friday 02 March 07 23:21 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Samuel Harryman Gritton purportedly born in Keswick, Cumberland in about 1803.  I am trying to find his parents names but they are not on LDS.

There is another family of Grittons on LDS with Russell as middle name - ie
Maria Russell Gritton 1796
Percival Russell Gritton 1789
Sarah Russell Gritton 1791
Rebecca Gritton 1794

My Samuel Harryman Gritton had children by all four first names, with one of them being called Maria Russell Gritton!!

Sarah Russell Gritton and Rebecca Gritton the elders had a "ladies academy" in Keswick in 1829.

Thanks in anticipation
