Norfolk / VIDLER between 1901-1919
« on: Friday 10 November 06 20:50 GMT (UK)  »
I discovered that my great-aunt, Constance Vidler, was living in Norwich prior to her migrating to the U.S.

As I know it, she and her siblings were in a workhouse school in the 1901 census (listed as paupers).
Then nothing on her till 1919, when she took the ship Vauban and went to New York, where she settled.
Is there any kind of record that might indicate what she was doing in Norfolk?

thanks in advance

I haven't been in Rootschat is some time, and I think I  have forgotten something, or not doing something right. I wanted to see if there were any replies to my messages. It appears there are but no way of seeing them?

This is what I have:

It's telling me I have replies but no way to read them? I have posted a few things here, and honestly, can't recall all I did post, as I've been very busy with various parts of family.
Please help! I received notification for personal messages but nothing for replies to my posts.

Armagh / Flanagan - Ireland to Woolwich
« on: Monday 16 October 06 15:24 BST (UK)  »
My husband's great-grandparents were from Ireland - David and Eliza Flanagan. I don't know her maiden name. David was born about 1829 and Eliza born about 1841.
The 1881 British census shows them living in Plumstead (Woolwich) England. Their children were born in Plumstead. I have nothing to tell me when they were married and when they arrived in England.

I found an IGI for a David Flanigan (with an "I") - 12 OCT 1828   Armagh - but have no idea if this might be my David Flanagan.
I have both David and Eliza's death records but their place of birth is not mentioned.

Any help from anyone is greatly appreciate.

Kent / Ward family
« on: Saturday 14 October 06 12:14 BST (UK)  »
I have the 1841, 1851 and 1861 census for the Edward Ward family. Wife was Mary Ann (Starford)
Edward born in Kent (supposedly Broughton Aluph but changed that on a later census) about 1815, give or take a year or so. They were married in East Ashford in 1838.

Does anyone have information regarding them and any of their children: Jane, Olivia, Catherine, Henry, Albert, Sophia, Samuel, Eliza, James??
I can't find any IGI for any of them.

thanks in advance

Kent / Ward, Anderson, Flanagan in Woolwich/Plumstead & St. Helena
« on: Friday 06 October 06 00:44 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find more on my mother-in-law's family. She was born Dorothy Ward, in Woolwich. Her parents were Albert Edward Ward (Woolwich) and Louisa (Bridget) Flanagan (Plumstead)
Louisa's parents were David and Eliza Flanagan, both came from Ireland (no other info on them)

Albert Ward's mother was born Eliza Anderson, apparently on St.Helena Island (Atlantic, near S. Africa). From what I've found, she had a brother Isaac Anderson. Their father's name was Isaac also. Not sure about their mother's name, possibly Sarah Prosser.

Hoping someone will see something familiar.

thanks

Somerset / Queen Camel - Martin Family
« on: Thursday 28 September 06 09:46 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know of a Martin family from Queen Camel? The information I have is that an Alexander Martin (ca. 1755) had a son, James Marten (don't know why the spelling is different)
James had a son Charles Rodolphus Martin born 24 Oct 1802 in Queen Camel.
He went on to India, married a woman, Elizabeth Taylor. They were my 3x great-grandparents.

I have just been told that the information about Charles isn't correct, that there is nothing on him for Queen Camel.
Hope somone can help me.

thank you

Northumberland / Williamson in Berwick-upon-Tweed
« on: Saturday 23 September 06 10:18 BST (UK)  »
I have a 2x gt-grandfather, George Adam Williamson, born ca. 1824 in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Need to find his birth info - parents' names, etc.
Found an Adam & Jane Williamson in 1841 census in Edinburgh. Adam born in Scotland, Jane and their children in England. There is a son "George A" who would be about the same age.
I have no particulars as to parish or anything else. Hope someone can help.
