Hi all
I'm looking for any details on a fireman John McCoy – Govan Fire Brigade?
Killed at James Watt Dock, Greenock on 7th February 1904.
Supposed to be an article about his death in Greenock Telegraph 8.2.1904, but I can't get up to the Mclean Museum to find more.
Any help or information would be much appreciated
Thankyou

Renfrewshire / Look up request Paisley 12th Nov 1833
« on: Thursday 12 July 07 22:44 BST (UK)  »
A million to one request,
but is there any way of looking up a death when I have no name, just a date and the circumstances ?

Here are the details
On 12th November 1833 there was a great fire at The Cross, Paisley, starting in a four storey warehouse, at No 6 the cross, it was soon burned to the ground.
The fire spread to Nos. 8 and 9, which shared the same fate.
One fireman was killed by the falling walls.

Need the name of the fireman please.

So can anyone perform miricles here

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Toxteth Cemetery - Firemen's memorial
« on: Friday 02 February 07 13:56 GMT (UK)  »
I'm hoping that someone may possibly be able to help.
I've just found out about a firemen's memorial in Toxteth Cemetery, giving details of some of the firemen, and police-firemen who have died on duty in the Liverpool area, going back to the 1800s
Any details on the inscriptions on the memorial would be most helpful, or if by any chance anyone is in the area, they may be able to photograph the memorial and inscriptions.
Thanks in anticipation

Sussex / Fireman Curteis
« on: Friday 19 January 07 11:46 GMT (UK)  »
I hope someone might help.
As part of my project to find details on all UK firemen/ Firefighters that have died on duty, I'm now looking for a Fireman Curteis.
All I have to go on is a scan of a newspaper picture (attached) Thanks to Bexhill Museum (who know nothing about this) for the picture
on the back it simply says "Funeral Fireman Curteis Bexhill 11th September 1941"
I've searched the CWWG site and not a single Curteis mentioned.
Any help on this much appreciated,
Thankyou.

2,000+ firemen found with names, ages, addresses, brigades, and death details
with only around another 200 to find.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Any chance of a colour please
« on: Sunday 07 January 07 12:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
Looking through this section of Rootschat never fails to amaze me with you work many do here. Although I can take scratches out, I have no idea as to getting colour into the pictures, but I'm going through the advice given in other posts and will give it a try when I gain more confidence.
In the meantime would someone plese have a go at the attached pic of my Gran, Dad and two Aunt's. My gran died only 2 years ago and made 102years. (Hope I have a few of her genes LOL)

Thanks in advance

Occupation Interests / Firemen (Firefighters)
« on: Wednesday 27 December 06 20:49 GMT (UK)  »
I have a list I've done as part of my research into firefighters killed in the line of duty, or as a consequence of their duties as a fireman. Around 2,000 on my list.
The list goes back as far as 6th January 1801.
If anyone needs details of any firemen (firefighters) who have died in the past please let me know and I will be happy to forward any details.
Specific names please if possible.

Most have
Name
Brigade Served
Date died
and where/ how killed
Many have addresses
Just let me know and I will do my best.
