I'm hoping someone on here can help me knock down a huge brick wall currently blocking my search in my wife's family tree...
I'm trying to find details of her Grandmother but so far haven't been able to get very far at all...

Her name was Winifred Roach and I was told she was born in June 1904 however I've drawn a blank on Free BMD - there are several Winifred Roach's born in Birmingham and in June but not in Jun 04.
I'm not even sure if she was born in Birmingham (I've been told she has Irish roots) and my mother-in-law says that they were never even sure of an exact date in June?

What I do know is that she married Albert Gilbert in Sept Qtr 1924 and the marriage was registered  at Birmingham N.  Vol 6d Page 1385

If anyone is able to find a marriage record with hopefully her father's name and or any more information it would be a great help.

I am trying to confirm a marriage of a Thomas Cox  of Hartshorne which I am told took place at Croxall on 29 NOV 1884

Bride should be a Mary Caroline Topliss of Ticknall

There is a marriage on Free BMD for Dec Qtr 1884 - but it would be good to get solid evidence from a parish record...

Hopefully someone can confirm this and also the parents details.

I am trying to find the surname of my wife's aunt... which due to a rather complicated history could be one of several options.

She was born on August 1st 1917 and named Rose

her mother was Lucy Jane Steele but her father is unknown.

I am not sure what name was on her birth certificate it could be Steele or it could be Barney-Steele or just Barney.

Lucy Jane was christened Steele (her mother's married name) However her father was not Steele as her mother's husband had died 4 years earlier. We think her father was a man by the name of Barney and Lucy was known as Barney-Steele.

I've searched on Ancestry but can't seem to find her.. It would be great if someone could help solve the mystery.

I am trying to find details of a wedding which I assume to have been in Staffordshire but have little to go on.

William Argyle b c1807 of Preston, Lancs married a woman by the name of Willhelmina b c1817 - she was from Barton-Under-Needwood.

They had 5 sons all born in Barton-Under-Needwood between 1835 and 1850 (I have names and dates already for these from the census records)

Any information would be most welcome.

I have come across a census record - 1851 for a possible relation and the place of birth is given as Porad, Lancashire

I did a search on Google but this doesn't appear to be a place and is possibly a transcription error.

I've looked at the original image and it is very difficult to read it appears to say Lancaster, followed by a 5 digit word which begins with P and ends in D the other three letters are quite blurred.
