Mayo / Where were the Flax Workers from Co. Mayo in the mid 1800's?
« on: Sunday 19 October 14 01:16 BST (UK)  »
I had family that were working in flax mills in the mid 1800's in Co. Mayo.  when the factories were closed in the 1847-1850 time period, a lot of workers emigrated to Leeds, England.  Would anyone know where in Co. Mayo these workers would have come from.  Trying to narrow down my research to these towns.
Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Mayo / Kneaphsey Surname
« on: Wednesday 15 October 14 15:24 BST (UK)  »
Looking for where this surname is common.  From my mtDNA, I found I am connected to a Bernard (Bryan) Kneaphsey/nefsey/neaphcy(b.1789) married to a Mary Moran(b.1805) in co Mayo around 1823-4.  They had a Terrance(1826), Patrick (1828) and an Ann(1831) for sure in Ireland.  Then they left for Canada in 1832.  Does anyone know how I would go about locating the place of births for this family.
Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Bryon/Barron/Beirne/Nallan in Leeds
« on: Wednesday 13 April 11 00:01 BST (UK)  »
I am planning a trip to Leeds this June.  I am looking for my Byron/Barron/Beirne family and my Nallan family.  The surnames are misspelled often.  Both families did not know how to sign their name, hence the misspelling, I am assuming.
Would it be possible to search the church records of St. Anne's and The Parish Church while I am there?  I am looking for the time period of 1848-1852.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Leeds Burials
« on: Saturday 26 March 11 01:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I am planning on a visit to Leeds in June.  I have my family living in Leeds from 1848 to 1924+.  I have all information on them.  Their Marriage records and birth records of the children.  I am now interested in learning what the burial records from the churches would provide.  My directs were Catholic, were married in St. Anne's Church in 1850.  They had 10 children and died in Leeds.  They are buried in the Killingbeck Cemetery.  I was wondering how I would obtain the church entries of their deaths.  Anthony Nallan died on Jan. 20, 1900 and Bridget (Byron) Nallan died on Feb. 24, 1924.  Would anyone know where I could obtain a copy of the burial record from the church.  I have the civil.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi,
I have a great grandmother traveling from Leeds to NY in 1902.  Would she have had to obtain a passport?  Would there be any record of this?  I will be traveling to England in June and would love to look up any information on my relatives who lived in Leeds from 1848-1924+
Thank you for any suggestions.
