Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Old Swinford marriage look up c1736
« on: Wednesday 23 July 14 18:54 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyone out there who would mind looking to see if there is a marriage of Philip Talbot to Catherine (or Katherine) in about 1736?

I've hit a brick wall with this couple and can't currently get to the archives holding the registers.  I know that Phillip and Catherine baptised three children in Old Swinford parish church in 1738, 1741 and 1747.  Phillip and Catherine could have married anywhere of course but a check of Old Swinford will be a start.

I'd be interested to know whether there are any baptisms for Phillip Talbot say around 1700 to 1715 in the same parish.

Many thinks in advance.

Buckinghamshire Completed Look ups / Burial St Peter & St Paul Buckingham
« on: Sunday 02 December 12 20:38 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the parish register, or film thereof, for St Peter & St Paul Buckingham?

I would like to check some details for the burial of a Hugh Pignot on 27 March 1814.  I already have the details published on the IGI, the NBI ad various other online transcriptions but I am interested to know if there are any notes in the register to say where Hugh was resident.  I'm wondering if he might have been one of my Warwickshire Pignut's who perhaps died whilst on his travels.

Many thanks

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Marriage lookup Helpston
« on: Sunday 07 June 09 14:27 BST (UK)  »
Would a kind person be able to do a look up to see if there is a marriage of William Hitchcock to Mary at Helpston.  I'm affraid it don't have an exact date but the first child was baptised 2 September 1827.  William was born 1805 so I guess the marriage is somewhere between 1823 and 1827.  I would like to know Mary's maiden name and any other information recorded.

I am also looking for the exact date of a marriage between Thomas Hitchcock and Maria Ward who were married at Helpston in the June quarter of 1855.  I would be grateful for any information from the parish register and particularly whether Maria was a spinster or widow.

Many thanks

The Common Room / Translation of old document help needed
« on: Saturday 12 July 08 11:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Can anyone recommend someone to translate an old document for me.  It is a letter from one of my ancestors dated 1540.  I've looked at the handwriting help sites but can make no sense of the document.  A small portion is attached - approximately a quarter of the whole document.  Any takers??

Many thanks

US Lookup Requests / Look up for Harris - Passenger lists or census
« on: Tuesday 08 April 08 07:29 BST (UK)  »
Would someone be able to help me to find two lost children.

I'm looking for Nellie Harris born c1887 and George Harris born c 1890.  Both were born in Atherstone, Warwickshire and it's believed that after the death of their mother they were taken in by the parish and later sent to America by the parish leaving behind their older siblings.  I have no other information other than that they were the children of William and Martha Harris.

Both Nellie and George appear on the 1891 census for Atherstone but both are missing from the 1901.

I know that it's a long shot but can anyone spot them on passenger lists or later US censuses.

Many thanks

Kate

Somerset / The Hall, Berrow Rd, Burnham on Sea
« on: Monday 16 July 07 13:26 BST (UK)  »
I've just received the death certificate for my great granny.  She was a resident of Nuneaton, Warwickshire but died in 1951 at The Hall, Berrow Road, Burnham on Sea.  The is no house number with the address on the death certificate.

Can anyone tell me whether The Hall would have been some sort of hospital (she had pneumonia) or was is a hotel or something similar?  Is it still there?

If anyone knows where I might find a photograph of The Hall please let me know.

Many thanks

Canada / New to Canada - some local knowledge appreciated
« on: Thursday 12 July 07 14:06 BST (UK)  »
My great great grandfather went to Canada in search of gold (or so the family story goes).  He was Peter John Everitt born in Warwickshire in 1863.  I know that he fathered a child in 1910 in England and by 1936 had returned and had died a pauper (so he never found the gold).  He abandoned his wife and family in England so he was probably travelling alone - although not necessarily so.

We have a living relative who can vaguely remember him going and given the age of this relative I would imagine that I have to look at the move to Canada being sometime after the mid-1920's.

Unfornunately my knowledge of Canada is not very good.  Can anyone suggest whereabouts in Canada Peter might have been heading in search of his gold and whether I can narrow down the time period?

Cheers
Kate
