Technical Help / Family Search site suspension -COMPLETED
« on: Friday 06 April 07 09:22 BST (UK)  »
Is anyone else getting a message from the Family Search site saying that computers at their location have been temporarily suspended and to buy the latest version of the programme from the vendor who sold the original version?

I might be missing something here but I thought that Family Search was a free internet site, not someting that had to be bought as a programme.

Help anyone!

The Nuneaton & North Warwickshire FHS is, on Saturday 24 January at Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre, heralding the 150th anniversary of the serialisation of George Eliot's "Scenes of Clerical Life".  The day will concentrate on Nuneaton in her time, and on those real life people on whom she based some of her characters, especially those in "Scenes".

If anyone descends from, or otherwise has dangling in their extended family tree, any of the following, do please pm me.  We would very much like to involve real descendants of real characters in the event.  We would also like to hear from anyone who has George Eliot (Mary Ann EVANS) in their family tree - however distant.

The real life people (and their character) are as follows:

Hi

Does anyone know whether the marriage registers for Blackburn St Mary (cathedral) for 1855 are available on film or fiche.  I'm looking for the marriage of Thomas Bateson to Harriet Spall in the March quarter of 1855.  I need to know Thomas's fathers name.

Thanks

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Marriage look up Sporle/Sparle/Spaul at Hempnall or Fritton
« on: Sunday 05 November 06 08:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking for a marriage at either Hempsall or Fritton 1800-1805.  I am trying to find the groom's first name and the bride's maiden surname.

The bride was Elizabeth born in Fritton in 1785 and the groom was a Sporle but there are various spellings of this name.  After the marriage the couple went to live in Hempnall where a child, John, was born in 1805.

Any help is most gratefully received.

Many thanks

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Thomas Keens birth look up
« on: Sunday 23 July 06 10:45 BST (UK)  »
As a foreigner to Hampshire, I hope that someone can help me.

I'm struggling to find a record for a Thomas Keens who I believe was baptised at Old Alresford in 1769 or thereabouts.  I've already checked all of the normal website records.

The only reference I can find to the parish registers for Old Alresford (is it St Mary's?) is on the Society of Genealogists site where they have a reference only copy.  Before I pay for them to seach for me can anyone tell me whether this information is available elsewhere.  Or better still does anyone have access to these records and could have a quick look for Thomas for me.

The only alternative baptism location I have for Thomas is at Bishops Sutton.  Again, if anyone can tell me where I can access the records, I'd be grateful.

By 1792 Thomas was living in London.

Many thanks

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Marriage John FILER to Mary HASELL
« on: Wednesday 19 July 06 16:49 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone is able to check the parish register for All Saints Sudbury for me.  I have a marriage from the IGI of John Filer and Mary Hasell on 17 Sept 1776.  I need to know whether John was a widower when he married Mary.

If he was then there may be an earlier marriage to Sarah.  I don't have a date for this but their child, John, was baptised at All Saints, Sudbury on 25 Dec 1776.

Any info about either marriage would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have access to the Tamworth marriage registers?

I'm looking for details of a marriage between William Fellows (or Fallows) and Anne Wright on 6 Feb 1832.  I particularly need to know whether William was recorded as a widower.

Many thanks

Completed Census Requests / 1841 look up William Fellows - COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 16 April 06 08:07 BST (UK)  »
Looking for William Fellows and his family, living in Brownhills.

I know that he had two daughters born 1822 and 1826 so I guess his age would be about 45ish on the 1841 census.  Susannah born 1822 was possibly still living at home, Sarah born 1826 had married by the time of the census.

William was a collier.

I would be grateful for any information about the rest of the family.

Thanks
