Hiya all, looking for information on my great grandparents, Bartholomew Daly born around 1850 who married Mary Lawlor in 1882 in Limerick, I think. Also, John Bourke born around 1830 who married Kate Tierney in 1868 in Lurriga R.C. Church, Co. Limerick. It's possible that John Bourke may have had the surname spelling of Burke.

Bartholomew Daly and Mary Lawlor had the following children in Limerick, probably in Kilcolman: Margaret (Peggy) Daly b. Feb., 10th 1889, Bartholomew Daly b. 1891, Daniel Daly b. 1893, My Grandmother, Anne Daly, (Bourke) born in 1895 in Kilcolman, Co. Limerick, Timothy Daly b. 1896, Joseph Daly b. 1898 and Kathleen Daly b. 1900. Most birth years are approximate to within a year or so. (Bartholomew's father was John Daly and Mary Lawlor's father was Patrick Lawlor.)

John Bourke and Kate Tierney had the following children: Mary Bourke b. Dec., 1868, Catherine Bourke b. July, 1870, Michael Bourke b. Sept., 25th 1872, Ellen Bourke b. July, 1875, Bridget (Biddy) Bourke b. Feb., 28th, 1878, John Bourke b. Nov., 29th, 1879, Elizabeth Bourke b. May 18th, 1882 and my Grandfather, Arthur Bourke born in Breska, Clarina, Co. Limerick on July 28th, 1885. My Grandparents are buried in Clounanna Cemetery, Patrickswell, Co. Limerick. I'm pretty sure all of the children of John & Kate were born in Breska, Clarina, Co. Limerick.

My Grandparents had the following children between 1921 and 1934, births given in date order: Catherine Bourke (My Mother), John Bourke, Anne Bourke, Michael Bourke, Mary Bourke, Arthur (Art) Bourke, William (Bill) Bourke and Ellen Bourke, all born in Curraghbridge, Adare, Co. Limerick. (Arthur (Art) and William (Bill) were identical twins and John, Michael and Mary died as infants the oldest being Michael aged 8 years.... so sad thinking of how my grandparents must have felt at their losses at the time, it must be dreadful to lose a child.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Completed Census Requests / Hatfulls
« on: Saturday 23 April 16 15:45 BST (UK)  »
I've been researching my family tree for years and have about 3000 direct relatives so far, I haven't included in the tree any children of a married female, only her husband, so only Hatfulls are listed + spouses and so far, all are related. I have recently found at least one family of Hatfulls who were born in Blackburn in Lancashire and want to trace them back to London which is where they stemmed from, as all Hatfulls came from around the Deptford area originally and going back to 1700. I did find three males, a father, his son and grandson, each born in Yorkshire in the late 1600's though. The book, "The Hatfulls of Deptford" has been very useful in my research and gave me a good head start, they were a well respected family in Deptford in the 18th century.
I found on "thegenealogist.co.uk" a family as follows: James Hatfull (Solicitor's Clerk) aged 47, born 1844 Blackburn - married to Elizabeth, children: Ann, born Blackburn 1891, James B R, born Blackburn 1887 and Herbert E, born Blackburn 1889. It is this discovery which has prompted me to search for this family's roots. I found an entry for James (the Solicitor's Clerk), at least I think it is him, in the 1871 census where he was a clogger in a household which had servants. It seems a strange career move so this may be incorrect but a James was listed in the 1871 census but not his family, his age was about right. I can find no entries in the 1851 or 1861 censuses for this family and suspect that the father of James snr. came from London.
Can anyone help tracing the Hatfulls from Lancashire back to London or, though unlikely, to Yorkshire? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Keni

Limerick / DALY & BOURKE ADARE, CO. LIMERICK
« on: Wednesday 13 May 15 15:34 BST (UK)  »
Looking for relatives of my grandmother, Annie Bourke, born Daly on April 5th 1895 - she married my grandfather Arthur Bourke April 28th, 1920 at Kilcolman R.C. church, Ardagh, Co. Limerick. I believe her father was Bartholomew Daly born in Caherline, Co. Limerick around 1858 but not certain. He married Mary Lawler (Lawlor? Laulor?) around 1882, possibly in Co. Clare but again, uncertain.

Does anyone recognise the name (My mother's family on Grandfather's side) and/or Daly (Mother's family on Grandmother's side)? You may have known some of them.
Old photo's of Adare, the village hall, Curragh Bridge and the railway station would also be appreciated.

Family History Beginners Board / Old Ford Road E3
« on: Friday 09 January 09 07:07 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have any information, pictures etc. of the eastern end of Old Ford Road for the years 1900 to 1930 (ish)? This is where the road used to bend round  to join Tredegar Road and wouldn't be far from the now demolished Old Ford Railway Station. Also, close to the old East London Waterworks. The house number / address concerned is 782 Old Ford Road but anywhere around here would be interesting. My email address is (*)
