Europe / Swedish Record Examinations from 1900
« on: Monday 19 February 18 16:44 GMT (UK)  »
I'm new to Swedish records.  I have a record for Examinations from 1900 and in the column for children there are 2 abbreviations.  With the son is what looks like "n.o b." or "h o b".  He was born before his parents were married.  With the daughter is the word "gem".  She was born after the marriage.  Do you know what these abbreviations mean?

Any help appreciated....Lynne

Derbyshire / headstones of St Lawrence Heanor
« on: Tuesday 24 November 09 00:02 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know what happened to the headstones at St Lawrence Heanor?  I visited a couple years ago only to find a few MI's in the wall.  Old photographs show a large churchyard at one time...now there is a busy street!  Have spent hours on the internet trying to find an answer.  Lynne

Banffshire / Baads or Bauds of Cullen, Rathven COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 05 January 08 01:51 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know if Baads and Bauds of Cullen Rathven are the same place?  The online census for 1841 says Baads is in one enumeration district, and Bauds in another.  Any ideas?

Aberdeenshire / draught horse records
« on: Monday 05 November 07 03:27 GMT (UK)  »
This is going to sound a bit odd, but I was wondering if anyone out there would have knowledge of draught horses and how breeding records were kept.  My grgrandfather had an "entire horse" he took around to neighbouring farms in the New Deer area,  (late 1800.s) advertising of his visits in the local Public Houses.  It would be interesting to know if blood lines were kept and who kept them.  Any ideas? ???Lynne

Dumfriesshire / Curries of Moffat
« on: Sunday 28 October 07 23:49 GMT (UK)  »
Any suggestions on how I can locate any information on my grandmother's brother who lived in Moffat.  His name was George Melville Currie, born 1879 at Raeknowes, Johnstone Par. and married in Moffat 1915 to Bella Main.  They had 4 sons, Norman, Melville, Ronald and Thomas.

I have tried to locate records online and have found nothing for Moffat. Any help would be appreciated.  Lynne
